Chapter 12:

0 1 1

It's been three hours since I left Jake's on the blacktop of the school. I found a little shack on some empty land and enough wood near me to make a fire. Police sirens went off twice already and I wouldn't be surprised if there was  a search for me. Ella, Ella, Ella is The only other sound I've heard but I could be hallucinating right now. But a few minutes later I realize the voice was real and that there was more than just one.
Ella, baby, please come out if you can hear me. I know you're somewhere around here due to the footprints in the snow. I'm sorry I was being overprotective and I'm even more sorry for letting you walk away. In 10th grade I promised your mom if anything were to happen to her, that I would care for her baby. I'm not going to break that promise Ella."
Jake's voice got closer and closer by each word. "Ella is Jackson. Jake loves you very much. How I know that? Because the dude hasn't shut his mouth about you since second grade. The two of you will have your ups and downs we are still perfect for each other. He loves you."
They were outside the shack door now. Through the shaft walls I could hear the wind howling. They were probably freezing out there!
Jake soft voice lips through the crack of the door. "Ella please forgive me. Let me come in and we can talk this out. Then we can go back home and chill by the fire place while drinking hot Coco."
The Luke's was followed, "Girly if you don't open this ugly door in 10 seconds, then I'm going to invite myself in." Wow he sounded a lot like Parker.
Now my thoughts were really getting to me. Why didn't God take me when he took my mom and Drew? I wouldn't be here in a tiny shack, freezing. I could apologize to Drew and start a fresh life. But instead, I'm here, unable to move any limbs.
"That's it, we're coming in." The wooden door flew open with a big gust of wind. "Oh my gosh Ella!" Jake said. "What are you doing to yourself? Your face is pale and your poor lips are blue!"
I was in a small corner to the left with my knees against my chest. Not much warrants in this corner at all. A plastic bag cover the one window from the outside with a sick blanket on the inside.
"I'm taking you back to the school before your lips fall off. Can you stand sweetheart?" I tried a second time to pull my arms away from my knees but it was a fail. There was no strength left in my body. "Can I get some help here guys? You to help her up, I have an idea." Jake walked to the window and remove the thumbtacks that were putting the blanket to the wall.
Luke and Jackson each grabbed a hold of my under arm and lifted me from my spot. Jade came over, wrap me in the thick blanket, and pick me up into his arms just like before I left the hospital.
"We have to run guys she's got about 10 minutes before –" but he wouldn't finish that sentence. All four of us already knew what would come after that. "Never mind. Go go go!"
As he ran, my teeth clattered against each other. I was laying almost completely still in his arms as the pain of the cold air hit. Until there was a pinch that was piercing through my chest. I made a loud grown into Jake's chest as the excruciating pain continued.
"Baby try to hang in there! Please. Just two more minutes before we reach the school."
