Ice Cold Hearts

Chapter 8:

Three weeks later I was almost completely recovered. I had my full voice back which was a thrill and I could move my left arm again. Tomorrow I would start my first day of the school year. Jake already had one full week but he said he help me catch up.
Jake is been waking me up every morning with breakfast to help me get back on schedule. Today though, something felt different when he came to drop off the food. Not only did he have a huge smile but he was also wearing a nicer outfit. "Good morning beautiful" he said while setting the tray on my lap. My stomach started to jump as my face flushed a light pink. Something strange is going on.
"Good morning to you too... Is everything all right? I mean- you look excited or something."
"Just fine," he said. "Maybe even a little better than fine. Who knows? Well, enjoy the food!" Jake was seriously planning something I wish I could determine. He walked out into the living room while I ate in wonder. As I move the play out-of-the-way I saw it – saw the note written in Jake's handwriting. The note said:

"Roses are red, violets are blue, love never crossed my mind until the day I met you. I love you since second grade and want to know if you'll be my girlfriend?"

And at the bottom he signed:

Without a doubt, I was flattered. I ran out of my room and straight to Jake. He turned around in time for me to jump into his arms. "Yes!"
The two of us turn to find Monica and John smiling at us. They already knew. We all talked for maybe five minutes before I went back to my room to finish eating. I shared my food with Jake who is sitting next to me on my bed. He had intertwined our fingers and stole another bite off my plate.

For the rest of the day Jake and I stayed in my room and watch movies. Most of the movies were my picks such as The Notebook, The Fault in our Stars, and the Lion King well the last two were all Jake's idea: bridge to Terabithia andPearl Harbor.
We both cried for TFIOS which was a little funny to me. Monica made lunch after we finished it since both of us needed a break to clear up our faces. Simple salami sandwiches with cheese and nacho Doritos.
All five movies were finished at 8 o'clock, giving me two hours before bed. Jake went to make dinner while I showered. He was honestly a really good cook.
    After dinner I went to the living room and watched some TV with Jake and his parents. The two adults were snuggled on the left couch while my new boyfriend and I were on the right couch. Monica and John stayed in the room in time only for one episode of wiped out. Once they were gone I slid down to a laying position and the rest of my head in Jakes lap. My eyes were heavy but I wanted to watch the final dance on Dance Moms.
    At the next commercial break I gave up on trying to keep my eyes open. I was in a comfortable spot and way too lazy to walk to my room. In a matter of seconds I was passed out into a calm, relaxing sleep.
