Alex came home with me after her she made sure her sister was okay. She said she needed to get away. I totally agreed. Plus I couldn’t really argue with her, she wanted to come to my house; who was I to tell her no?? We got there and my mom’s eyebrows shot up in surprise and immediate happiness. I gave her a pointy look that told her to shut up. She rolled her eyes and went to her room.
Alex turned to me. “So what do you want to do?”
I shrugged. “What do you want to do?”
She laughed lightly. “I asked you because I don’t really care.”
I looked around and opened my room door. She put an eyebrow up in question.
“TV?”
She smiled and followed me into my room. I wondered what she thought I meant?
“What are we watching?” Instead on sitting on the small loveseat in my room, she plopped down onto my bed and laid back.
“Uhh, I don’t know. All I know is I’m not watching Lifetime.”
We ended up watching Lifetime.
We sat on my bed with a box of tissues between us, shoveling ice cream into our mouths. Of course the tissues weren’t for me, I’m a man, I don’t cry. But Alex was blowing her nose and babbling on about how ‘he shouldn’t have left her like that’ and ‘she should have told him she loved him’. At around 6 o’clock, Alex passed out on my arm. It was adorable how she was softly snoring and randomly kicking things that weren’t there. It reminded me of a dog when it sleeps. Ha. I thought of the irony.
She awoke with a start soon after she fell asleep and looked around, confused. “Ethan?”
“Yessss?” I made it sound as creepy as I could.
“Oh.” She put her head back down and sighed. “Never mind.”
Did she think I was someone else?
Time ticked on and my curiosity grew greater and greater. Curiosity may have killed the cat, but it saved the mouse’s ass! She woke up suddenly at around 8 o’clock and looked at her phone. “I should go.”
I couldn’t take it anymore. “Who’s that guy that you always looks at? In school?” Ok maybe not the best way to ask, but at least I got it out.
She gave me a look of confusion. “Who?”
“This guy, you look at him and you get sad. Was he your ex?” I knew that she knew who I was talking about.
She shrugged and got up, not making eye contact. “I don’t know who you mean.” She put on her shoes and was about to walk out the door.
I got up and stopped her by grabbing her wrist. “You can tell me.” I made her look me in the eyes, but her look was one of anger.
“It’s none of your business.” She yanked her wrist away and walked out.
I sighed and sat down, listening as she pulled out of my driveway. I heard my phone vibrate and dashed across the room in hopes that it was Alex. I looked at it and I was disappointed.
Tenile: It’s Tenile. We need to talk
Me: Why
Tenile: Meet me at the river
Me: Will you have clothes on?
Tenile: 5 minutes
Me: Is that a yes?
She didn’t answer. I groaned and started walking to the river. I wasn’t sure whether or not she’d be in wolf form, but if she wasn’t and I came as a wolf I’d have to be naked in front of her. I’d rather not.
