My heart was beating too loud for me to hear what she was saying. I struggled to shush my wolf and focus on her beautifully delicious words.
“Are you okay? Do you need something?” Her tone was slightly worried, and slightly accusatory.
I shook off my stupor and tried to collect myself. “Umm yeah. I’m lost.”
She chuckled. “Where are you trying to get to?” Her cute accent made me want to hug her. I longed to touch her.
“My mom and I, we have an address but got lost at the least corn field.” I wanted to slap myself for how stupid that sounded.
She looked at me oddly and smiled. “There are a lot of those around here. What’s the address?”
I didn’t bring the paper in, but I remembered. “463 West Mill St.”
She nodded. “Yeah, okay! It’s to your left when you turn right on that road out there!”
I smiled at her. “That sounds so easy. We’ve been driving around for an hour.”
“You probably passed it, actually. I know the house. It’s waaay back in the woods.” She gestured and I was momentarily caught on how cute it was.
I stared at her and felt a burning in my throat. I wanted to kiss her so badly.
“Are you okay? Is there anything else?” She seemed honestly worried. How sexy.
“Actually, yeah. Where’s the high school around here? I guess I should enroll.”
She perked up. “Oh, it’s a few miles away! What grade are you in?”
For a second I considered lying, but decided against it. “11th.”
She beamed. “Me too! I can show you around and stuff!”
Yes!
“We can be best friends!
No!
I smiled and nodded excitedly. I wanted so much more than just friends… I needed so much more.
“All you have to do is show up and they’ll enroll you on the spot! This isn’t a big fancy city or anything like that haha.”
“Thank you so much, I didn’t catch your name?” I needed to hear her name.
“Alexandria! But everyone calls me Alex.”
Alex. The name rang in my head like bells. “Okay Alex. I’m Ethan.”
She grinned. “Nice to meet you Ethan! School starts at 8:15, so I’m going to come to your house at 8, okay?”
Whoa. She was coming to my house??
“Sure.” I tried to play off my shock. I had half expected to have to fight tooth and thumb with her to spend time with her, but she was making it so easy. “Isn’t 8 cutting it a little close?”
She chuckled and rolled her eyes. “This is South Carolina, sweetie. Cuttin’ it close is what we do best!”
I smiled back and stared in wonder. What a woman.
“Okay, Alex.” It sounded wonderful coming from my mouth. “Thanks so much, I’ll see you tomorrow!” I reluctantly turned to walk out of the door.
“Wait!”
I spun around, so glad that she called me back.
“Don’t forget, turn right on this road, and it’ll be to your left. Look for a dirt road that looks abandoned and that’ll be it!”
