Chapter 16

"How are you little boy? I missed you!"

That's how Dennise' day started. A smile on her face for she met up with the little boy who reminds her so much of her late younger brother. Keith is in her clinic today for his monthly check up. Dennise hugged him tightly, she just missed this little guy so much. There should be a strict professionalism towards a Doctor and his patient but children aren't included in that rule, okay?

"Ate Doc! Namiss kita! Sobra!" Keith sank his face in Den's shoulder, his hands hugging the Doctor's neck.

"Namiss din kita baby Boy." she paused "So, sinong kasama mo pumunta rito?" Den looked around to see if there's someone with Keith coz he's the only one who entered her room clinic.

"Oh. I'm with Yaya po, Doc." he said as he was sitting on the banana shaped beanbag.

Dennise was kind of disappointed. Deep within her heart she wanted to see Alyssa there. She was hoping to see the most expressive eyes, she wanted to see the cutest dimples, she wanted to feel her steaming charisma but no, Alyssa wasn't there.

"Oh nanjan din po pala si Tito Kief." the boy said as he was munching his chewing gum.

"oh. Great" Dennise said with sarcasm. She won't see Alyssa today and not just that. Kiefer is with Keith today.

"Are you ready to hear about your lab tests little boy?" Dennise said as she was fanning the papers in front of Keith.

"Will it be bad?" Dennise noticed the sadness.

"Let's find it out together but all I know is... you are a good kid and I'm sure you'll be alright." Dennise said as she smiles whole heatedly.  "Now, where's your Tito? We need to start soon."

"I think he's on his way back here na po. He just dropped Tita Ly somewhere I think."

"ohhh so magkasama nanaman pala sila" Dennise said at the back of her mind. "Stop kidding yourself Dennise. What do you expect?"

Dennise was saved from her thoughts when she heard the door screeched open. Kiefer popped his head at the door as if asking if he was allowed to enter. Of course Dennise as a professional as she is smiled at Kiefer and greeted him a good morning.

"Tito, Doc Den said may results na raw yung latest lab exams ko." he said with a frown.

"I'm sure you'd be alright Buddy." Kiefer said as he disrupts Keith hair and he smiled at Dennise and she gladly smiled back.

"So, how's my little Buddy, Doc?"

Dennise opened the lab results and looked at the two, "treatment's working" Dennise said with a smile. "Cancer cells are depleting. Good thing he was diagnosed early. Let's continue with the therapy. He'll be cancer free in no time."

Kiefer's deep breath seem to have been held for so long that he almost choked when he let it out. "You heard that buddy? You're going to be okay." Kiefer said as he hugged the little boy.

"Really!? Really!?" the boy said after removing his hands from covering his ears.

"Really." Dennise said and smiled at the boy in front of her.

Keith can't help but jump up and down. He was so happy and he was shouting and running all around. "I should tell this to Tita Ly. Kay Mom and Dad!" Keith continued jumping around. "Tito, tara na! I want to see them." Keith said piulling Kiefer's hand guiding him to the door.

"Stay outside for a while Keith. May paguusapan lang kami ni Ate Doc mo. Mabilis lang to." Kiefer said looking at Dennise, she managed to maintain a straight face.
