Your Superior - Erwin X Reader

Since the day that Hanji had discovered Commander Erwin Smith's feelings for you, she had not stopped rambling on about it. Every time she saw him she would wink and nudge him and ask if he was thinking about you, or if he had confessed to you - the answer to the latter question always being 'no'. Erwin didn't think he could possibly tell you how he felt about you. He was afraid of others thinking it wasn't right - he was your superior, and it would seem strange for him to be involved with you. He was also afraid that you wouldn't return his feelings, despite Hanji insisting that you would.

You were barely more than a cadet. You were a freshly assigned squad leader, and since you were new to the position, Captain Levi had been assigned to assist you. Erwin was constantly worried about his comrade falling for you in the same way he had, and it always made him envious to see you with Levi. The two of you had become increasingly close, and recently Levi had even admitted to Erwin that you seemed to be the only person he could really talk to, aside from the Commander. The Captain considered you to be a good friend, and Erwin could only be worried that your friendship might turn into something more.

Not to mention that you got along very well with the cadets in training, especially Eren Jaeger and the squad he had trained with in the Trainee Corps. Sometimes you sat at Erwin and Levi's table in the mess hall, but sometimes you would sit with the cadets. You were the youngest squad leader, so you fit in well with them. Erwin had observed Eren making you laugh, Armin engaging you in deep conversation, Jean complimenting you and Reiner openly flirting with you.

He was watching you now, as you sat with them. You were seated in between Armin and Eren, and across from the three of you sat Mikasa, Reiner, and Jean. You were currently chatting happily with them, and you seemed to be enjoying yourself far more than you ever did when sat at Erwin's table. He frowned, feeling a small pang of jealousy that a group of cadets could make you so cheerful and bright-spirited, and yet you were always so serious around Erwin - he never seemed to be able to make you smile like those cadets could, and it pained him. He looked away, not wanting to continue watching, but knowing that his gaze would eventually drift back to you.

Your gaze went to the Commander just as he glanced away from you and began talking to Hanji. You felt a small burst of sympathy for him when you noticed his sad gaze, but your attention was quickly drawn away when Eren called out to you.

"Hey, (F/N), what're you staring at?"

You met his teal-eyed gaze with a smile. "Nothing," you replied. "Just daydreaming as usual."

"You wouldn't happen to be thinking of me, would you?" Reiner asked flirtatiously. "Because I'm betting I've sneaked into your thoughts more than once."

You rolled your eyes. "In your dreams, Reiner."

"Nope, in your dreams," he answered with a grin. "C'mon, (F/N), don't lie to me. You've been practically drooling over me, haven't you?"

"No, I don't think so," you laughed.

He winked. "What if I told you all the things I want to do to you, huh? I bet you'd be drawn in like a moth to a flame, princess."

"Not a chance, Reiner," you replied sweetly.

Reiner was about to say something else when Jean nudged him. "Hey, dude, cut it out. She's your superior, you know, you shouldn't talk to her like that!"

You smiled. "Thanks, Jean, but honestly, I don't see myself as your superior. I'm only a few years older than you guys, and I only became a squad leader recently. We're all equals here, in my opinion."
