Wait For Me - Erwin X Dying! Reader

You stood on the branch of a large oak tree, peering through the leaves to try and see what was going on. It was like a battlefield out there, except there were no bodies to mark the amount of casualties and deaths there were. The titans didn't leave the bodies. you inched nearer to the edge of the branch, one hand on another branch by your head to help you keep you balance. Your other hand rested on your manoeuvring gear, just in case you found yourself needing to use it quickly.

Thundering footsteps warned you of a titan's approach, and you waited for it to pass beneath the tree you were in. As it stormed by, you swooped, like an eagle diving for its prey, aiming for the back of its neck. In once clean slice, your blade struck the fatal spot, and the titan was falling as you swung yourself into the next tree.

That titan was your second kill of the day. You had taken down another one earlier, with the help of Commander Erwin, who was leading this expedition. You realised suddenly that you had no idea where Erwin had gone after the two of you had killed that titan. He had disappeared afterwards, probably off to track down more titans or something. You dropped down from the tree you were standing in, using your gear to swing through the tree so fast you felt like you were flying. As you moved, you searched in every direction, peering through the branches - but there was no sign of the handsome, blonde-haired Commander.

Where is he? Your growing concern for Erwin took over your mind, and all you could think about was finding him. If anything's happened to him... You pushed the thought away, unable to bear it. You didn't want to think about something bad happening to Erwin. He had captivated you ever since you first met him, and your interest and attraction towards him had only increased the more you got to know him. The two of you had become friends when you had been made a squad leader, and he had been there to comfort you when all of your squad died apart from you.

You were too busy searching for the Commander, and had stopped watching out for titans. Your vision turned black around the edges as you were slammed suddenly into a tree, and you tumbled to the ground, dazed, pain shooting through your arm. Your gear had been damaged, and when you tried to use it to get up high again, it didn't work. Instead, you were stuck on the ground as a ten-metre class titan stomped towards you.

You flinched as it reached for you, unable to make your body move. Your chest hurt a lot, you were pretty certain your left arm was badly bruised, and you couldn't feel your legs, let alone move them. You could hear Erwin's voice in your head, screaming at you to run, but the titan's fingers wrapped around your body, and it was too late. You were lifted into the air, and you flinched as the monstrous creature in front of you opened its mouth, revealing the human-like teeth that would surely end your life.

All of a sudden, Erwin's voice was real, it was there, it wasn't in your head at all. "(F/N)!" Lightning fast, he passed the titan in a flash of whirling blades, striking the target. Blood poured from the titan's neck, and you were released as it crashed to the ground. You body fell, but Erwin caught you and landed gentle on the ground with you in his arms. You felt as if you were in a movie when the hero saves the damsel from a terrifying fate - except normally you weren't a damsel in distress; you were one of the heroes.

You still couldn't feel your legs as Commander Erwin set you down on the grass, and your arm hurt more than it had before. Am I broken?

"(F/N)? Wake up." Erwin's voice jerked your eyes open. You hadn't even realised you had closed them.

"Commander...thanks for saving me," you mumbled. "I was about to be titan food."
