"So my lovely people, are we ready to go?" Kate asked strapping on a pair of heels as she crossed the room to Pogue leaning up to kiss him. Rolling my eyes away from them I focused on pulling on my boots and throwing my keys, purse and mobile into a small handbag. Stepping out into the hallway after them I turned back about to lock the door only to find my eyes pulled to the old history book, still feeling the urge to return to it.
"You okay?" I jumped as a warm hand touched my elbow drawing my attention to Caleb who stood behind me.
"Yeah. I'm fine. Thank you." I smiled quickly pulling the door over and locking it, turning to find the others had continued on unaware we'd been left behind.
"You sure?"
"Yep." I whispered heading after the others.
"You know you don't have to come if you don't want to, I'll make sure Kate doesn't drag you back down." I felt something stir in me at his offer, finding comfort from them, from him.
"Thanks, but seeing as I have to live with her I doubt ditching her would be that easy or end well." He chuckled nodding his head as we slowly walked down the corridor.
"She can be pretty demanding."
"I can imagine." I smiled feeling more comfortable in his presence. Perhaps it was because the conversation was running smoothly or because we were alone now. The presence of all four of the boys was extremely intimidating but I was able to deal with one at a time. "So Kate said I was her new roommate. Who was her old one?"
"Sarah Wenham."
"Did she leave or move to a new room?" I asked curious when he didn't offer any more details.
"She left three months ago." I glanced at him, hearing something in his voice, something that gave me the distinct impression that Sarah was not just Kate's old roommate.
"She's your ex, isn't she?" I asked feeling him turn to me.
"How'd you guess?"
"Just a hunch. Was I right?"
"Yeah we dated briefly." He sounded sad or perhaps disappointed.
"Did she leave because of you?" I asked quietly pausing as we entered the foyer. "You don't need to answer that. I was being nosy." I smiled lightly about to step outside when he caught my arm.
"It was complicated." My eyes fell to the hand he had on my forearm feeling a tingling sensation spread throughout it.
"Relationships are. They're hard to work with the wrong person. I'm sure it's her loss." I pulled my arm from him stepping into the cold nightair.
"What took you so long, Caleb trying to kidnap you or something?" Reid smirked from beside a large black hummer.
"Unlike you he'd not have to drag me kicking and screaming." Pogue and Kate laughed out loud while Tyler tried to hide a smirk, earning a quick glare from Reid.
"I'm sure you'd come willingly." Reid's eyebrows wiggled suggestively making me cross my arms as I glared back at him.
"I doubt it."
"I think we should take both cars. Kate and Pogue you can go with Baby Boy and Reid to make sure they don't find trouble. I'll take Belle." I glanced at Caleb slightly surprised that it would just be the two of us again. Kate offered me a quick wave as Pogue helped her into the black hummer they were standing by. I turned to find Caleb holding open the passenger door of a silver ford mustang.
"Now no stopping on the way and getting busy." Reid called as he pushed Tyler away from the driver's side.
"Ignore him." Caleb spoke through gritted teeth making me sure that this was the way Reid acted all the time. "We normally do." Nodding I slipped into the passenger seat smiling at him as he took the driver's seat and started the engine.
