*five years later*

"Mom" I hear my son yell from upstairs.

"What Ocean" I reply a bit aggravated because it's only the seventh time he's called my name.

"Come here"

I sigh and get up from my spot on the couch and slowly make my way up the stairs. "You know I'm getting too old for this, Ocean."

"Mom, you're only twenty three"

I just laugh and I follow him in his room.

"What is it sweetie" I ask standing in the doorway of the eight year old room.

"I found this in the corner of my closet and I'm not sure why it's here. But, it's mail, from someone named Bradley." he says confused and handing me the small envelope.

Bradley.

I quickly take the envelope from his hands and study it. How old is this? And why is it up here?

"Okay um, go and finish getting packed. Your dad wants you at his house by five-thirty, you're going somewhere"

The curly haired boy just nods and continues with what he was doing before he discovered the letter. I walk over to my room and open the top drawer of my dresser, placing the envelope in there.

After about another ten minutes or so, Ocean and I are on our way to his dad's house. His dad and I reconnected about a year after the whole thing with Bradley and I went up in flames.

Of course there was that one time he tried to come back into our lives but at that time, I didn't want to see him.

We agreed that he was allowed to take Ocean on the weekends, if my son wanted to go, of course.

The little boy fell in love with Owen after just a couple months of knowing him. I must admit, I'm happy that Ocean has his father.

"Okay we're here" I announce, pulling up into the driveway.

Ocean unbuckles his seatbelt and gets out. "Hi dad" he says quickly being running past him and into the house.

"Hi Owen" I roll the window down as the sandy haired man walks up to me. "Where are y'all going today"

He smirks "that's for me to know and for you to ...never find out"

"Owen" I say, warning him to tell me. But he doesn't budge.

I nod, unbuckling my seatbelt and then getting out of the car. "Okay then, I will just take my son and go. OCE-"

"Okay okay calm down mama bear" he hold his hands out to stop me. I just swat them away.

"Don't touch me" I with faux anger.

"We are going to drive over to" he pauses and begins to speak in a very loud and obnoxious voice "National Gateway Recreation Area. Many places, one park. Sandy Hook area of course and spend the weekend over there. We'll be back Sunday night"

I can't help but laugh "you're such an idiot. Well look you just better keep an eye on my kid and bring him back together in one piece." I point a finger at him.

"Our kid" he corrects.

I get back in my car, buckle up, and put the car in reverse. "My kid. And make sure he calls me before you leave, when you get there, and every night before he goes to sleep"

"Aye aye captain" he salutes.

I just flip the man off and drive away leaving him laughing in the driveway.
