She could see the flames all around her,
Yet the cold seeped through her bones.
There was a ringing in her head of the silent songs,
Sung by people she never met.
As they whispered what they meant to scream and shout.
The sweet stench of happy dying souls,
As if leaving the stage after playing their roles.
The flames dancing in purples and greens,
Neither the same and yet the other's twin.
She wanted to flee these peculiar sensations,
But was rooted examining her own creations.
The terrifying thrill of the calm smells and sights,
Filled her sleepless desolate nights.
