I'm suited up and kitted with weapons. I walk out of the hangar towards the ship we'll be using to fly to Tatooine. Cassian's already there, checking out the new droid we'll have. Some R5 unit. It's no K-2, but it'll have to do.
Poor K-2.
I walk up beside Cassian. "Is he good?"
"I think he'll be rather useful on this trip."
"That's good news." I climb into the ship, then look back at Cassian. "Come on."
He climbs in, too, the R5 unit squealing and beeping as its rocket booster powers up and lifts it into the ship as well.
"No, R5. It's not that we don't like you. It's just... There was a droid... That got us through a lot of trouble... And he died in the battle..." I feel the anguish rising in me.
R5 beeps again, a little more subdued than before.
"I'm sorry, too. That we couldn't save him."
Beep beep. Whistle. Whir.
"No, we'll be alright. That's why we're taking this mission. To make sure he didn't die in vain."
The ship rumbles beneath me. I look up and around. While I've been chatting to R5, Cassian's already in the cockpit, starting up the ship. It's a single seater cockpit, so I don't have to fly the ship. Good. I don't like to fly ships very much.
"You ready?" Cassian asks.
"I'm ready," I reply, buckling myself into a seat. I take a deep breath, promising to channel all my anger and sadness to this mission. So many died to get those plans. I will not let the plans slip out of our grasp.
Not on my life.
"Let's go!"
He pulls a few levers and we lift off, flying out of the hangar and out of the atmosphere of Yavin 4. Slowly pushing lever forward, the stars turn into neon streaks of blue light, then to a raging torrent of blue clouds as I peer through the windows. We've made the jump to Hyperspace.
Tatooine, here we come.

Cassian comes into the cabin. "When we get to Tatooine," he says, "We are going to find the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO. Now Tatooine is full of scum and villainy-"
"I know," I interrupt. "I've been there."
"-And the biggest place to trade stolen droids, which is what probably happened to these two, will be in Mos Eisley. That's where we're going."
"How will we find out where the droids are though?"
"I have sources in Mos Eisley."
Despite everything, I smile. Rebel sources. "Your sources will never be as good as mine."
He grins back, challengingly. "We'll see."

Slowly, we emerge from Hyperspace. In front of us is a brown-red planet, scorchingly hot. We swoop down to the surface and land near the Cantina. Getting out of the ship, I smell the familiar air of the dry desert planet.
Time to find my source.
Cassian insists on seeing his source first so I follow him down the dirty, sandy streets of Mos Eisley to find someone that I know won't have the information we need. Ugh, sand.
I don't like sand.
Rolling my eyes from a distance, I watch Cassian attempt to interrogate some pathetic weakling who doesn't know thing about whats happening in the city.
I step in. "Enough."
Cassian looks up at me lie I'm crazy. "What?"
I look at him, unamused. "I said, enough. He doesn't know anything. I know someone who will. Come on."
"Jyn-."
"Come on, R5," I call. "Let's go find someone more useful than anyone this 'captain' can find." I jump into our ship again. I go to the cockpit and switch everything on. We'll have to go a bit out into the desert for this, but he will have answers. I'm sure.
I settle down in the pilots seat, waiting for Cassian to board. He walks up the ramp, grumbling about "interrupting his business," and "full of herself." I lift the ramp and take off before he can say anything else.
"Hey, why are you flying?" He asks.
"Because you don't know where we're going," I answer, not taking my eyes off the controls.
"And where are we going?"
"To find an old friend."
An old desert hermit friend.

I'm sure you can guess who her "friend" is!
I'm not a regular updater sorry. I just update when I can. But I'll be (trying to) update daily for the next week or so. Also, you'll see a lot of 500-800 word chappies even though I like to write 1000+ words ones. My parents don't understand fandom and don't let me do much of this stuff but I do what I can :)
Did you like it?
If you did, please vote. Also, I love getting comments. I love to see what you think, even if what you think is 'it sucks', I'll take what I get, beggars can't be choosers!
