The doctor comes in. She's a small Twi'lek who says her name is Seku. Seku pokes some needles at me and checks the monitors, humming an ancient Ryloth lullaby that sounds weirdly familiar yet so very foreign. I lie there, not really wanting to start moving around. "Now, Jyn, your right ear will not heal by itself. We have two options you are to consider, either to get an artificial hearing device installed in your ear or only hear out of your right ear."
I'll never hear out of my right ear.
This is what I would do for him. This is what I did do for him. And he won't even thank me for it.
I look at her helplessly. Her eyes soften a little.
"I'm sorry. This was probably too rushed of me. Tell you what, take some time to decide what you want, alright? I'll be here in the Hospital when you decide."
I smile weakly at her. "Thank you," I whisper.
She beams at me. "Other than that, you're free to go- oh, they told me you have to- though I don't see why a recently healed- oh, they don't-."
"What is it?"
She sighs. "You're to report to Command."

Report to Command.
Command, where Cass- no. I will not call him Cass anymore. He certainly does not want me to call him that. Not if he stormed out of the hospital the way he did.
He is Cassian Andor, and he was only interested in me for his own selfish means. Not for the good of the galaxy will he set me free.
I prepare myself for that man.
But then I walk into that room and see that everyone is there.
Every single person in the Rebellion is there, facing the General and Commander and- Leia, apparently, is also of very high rank.
I walk into the room. Everyone is chatting or murmuring quietly with other people. I go to do the same-then realize Cassian was the only person I knew. And I can't go chat with him now.
"Jyn! Over here!" I hear my name being called. It's Luke! I smile a little as I make my way over. "What's going on?" I ask, confused.
"We're getting ready to launch the assault on the Death Star!" he says excitedly. "That's why all the pilots are here. I'm going to be a pilot!"
"Congrats!" I'm happy for him. I really am. "Why am I here though?" I'm alright at piloting, but not good enough to be a pilot for the Rebellion.
"I don't know- I think it's cause you're the one who stole the plans and- oh! I am so glad to see you out of the Hospital!" he replies.
"Likewise," I reply.
"Alright, quiet!" it's General Dodonna. Everyone falls silent and turns to the front- even Luke, who loves to talk and ask questions about everything. "We are going to attack the Death Star today."
Murmurs go up at this announcement.
Dodonna continues talking about the features and armaments of the Death Star. Then he tells us how we can destroy it.
My eyes widen. A two-meter-wide thermal exhaust port. That's our target. That's what we are counting on to save the galaxy.
He keeps talking about how to hit the exhaust port. Then he ends his speech.
"Then man your ships. And may the Force be with you."

I'm called to a more private meeting after the first one finishes. It's just the high-ranking individuals, such as Jan Dodonna, Mon Mothma, Hera Syndulla, Leia Organa and me.
Oh, and Cassian Andor. For whatever reason.
I talk first. "Why was I at the meeting? I am not part of your Rebel Fleet. My piloting skills are not at the standards the Rebel Alliance is famous for."
"No, but your father designed the Death Star. We thought you should know our plan." Mon Mothma's voice is grave.
"So that you can rub it in my face that the last thing my father designed is going to be blown up into itty bitty pieces?"
"Miss Erso," Dodonna's warns. "Are you telling us not to blow up the one thing that will give the Empire supreme control over the galaxy?"
"No," I whisper. "No," I say, stronger. "I know that this has to be done. But... please don't rub it in my face..."
General Syndulla smiles sadly at me. "That wasn't the plan, Jyn. I think... you should leave this meeting. We are going to discuss... sensitive topics."
I purse my lips. Everyone is staring at me like I'm some weakling. But I'll take the chance. I have something I need to do...
"Thank you, General. I think I'll leave now."
I walk out of that room without turning back. But even without looking, I know that Cassian hasn't spared a glance in my direction.
Not even one.
