Chapter 5: The Meeting
Andy and Sam were the first to greet me.
"Nice to meet you." Sam said, shaking my hand.
"Hey, little tip. You don't want to be with Jay. I'm way cooler than him." Andy said, flashing a smile.
Sam slapped him on the back of the head. I held in a laugh.
"Forgive him, my brother is an idiot." Sam said.
Matthew came up and pecked Sam on the cheek. I guess they were together. Then smiled at me.
"Hey, I'm Matthew."
"Hi, good to meet you." I said.
After a while I realized I would have to use that phrase for the rest of the night, because everyone came to meet me.
It was amazing, the variety of people. People of all ages, races, and religions.
All very nice.
I met Jenna (the nurse), Ricky (the baseball player), Pete and Parker (the twins), Wendy (the marathon runner), Rebecca and her little baby Garrett, Sandy (the elderly woman), Drake (the war veteran), and Lilith (the competitive archer). After that I lost track.
After meeting everyone I sat down and wondered when we would eat. As soon as the thought entered my mind people came out carrying large tray filled with food. I ended up eating a steak cooked to perfection with a side of macaroni and cheese.
After about an hour I left the room with a full stomach and made my way to Jay's room.

I rapped on the door of Room 251.
"Come in" Jay called from inside. I opened the door and said hi to him.
"Hi Bethany, thanks for coming."
He motioned me to sit down in a chair and he pulled up another one to sit in front of me.
"No problem. So what 'business' did you want to discuss?" I said.
"Why do you think there are survivors?" He asked.
"What?"
"Why are there survivors? Why are we still here?"
"I.. I don't know." I said. What did it matter anyway?
"So you have no theories? You've never asked yourself why you were alive?"
"Well of course I have. I guess I would say that they didn't do it on accident. They had a chance to take me, they just didn't. I think it was on purpose."
Jay smiled.
"I thought the same thing." He said.
"Anna said that you thought there were more people left."
"Yeah I do. I think there's more people outside of this state, outside of this country. I'd think they wouldn't just leave people in America."
I hadn't even thought of other countries. But he was probably right.
"So what do we do?" I asked.
"Get them together, of course"
