Chapter 12: Aftermath
Jay came in a few minutes later. I didn't want to be the one to tell him what happened but I didn't need to. It was obvious. He said a few words and and attempted to comfort everyone.
Sam's death was bad enough but Matthew's reaction was unbearable. Uncontrollable sobbing, screaming for her to come back. Andy was different though. He stood there silently, unmoving. I guess he was in shock. I hadn't known Sam for very long but it felt like someone had taken a piece of my heart out.

It'd been about a week since the second attack. Many were still mourning for their lost friends and family members.
Andy was still in shock and Matthew didn't go a day without crying.
It was horrible seeing everyone like this. I think we all knew that there was going to be more Attacks, but no one knew what to do about it.
I walk, in a daze, out into the hallway. I trudge slowly through the hallways, not thinking about where I was going. I found myself at the door of Apartment 4A, Anna and her cousin Grayson's room. Anna wasn't very close to Grayson but someone needed to look after her.
I guess I came here because I needed some relief. Anna was always positive, maybe she could lift my spirits. I took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
Grayson arrived fairly quickly and swung the door open.
"Oh hey!" he said, motioning me in.
Grayson was probably a year older than me. He was tall and pretty buff, with curly brown hair and dark blue eyes. I didn't like him much. He was kind of a jerk.
"Hi." I said, walking in and taking a seat in the couch. "Is Anna here?"
"Nah, she went to hang with Jay." He responded.
"Oh, well I think I might go and catch up with them." I said, standing up.
Grayson came towards me, pushing me slightly back down onto the couch. He plopped down beside me, a little too close.
"Come on, Beth, what's the rush?" he said, slinging his arm around my shoulder.
"Um, I really should get going." I said, feeling nervous. This isn't right.
"Bethany, I know you have a crush on me. Just admit it." Grayson said, leaning way too close.
"What are yo-"
He planted his lips on mine and I immediately retracted.
"Stop!" I got jumped up, making my way towards the door.
Grayson grabbed my wrist.
"Where you going, babe?"
I smacked his hand away, disgusted and went out the door, slamming it shut.
