Friend or Foe ~ Alduin x Reader

The Ceremony

People began to gather in the garden, taking their seats for the ceremony. Alduin stood by the altar, his dark hair combed out of his face and wearing a nicely decorated suit of light armor. He waited anxiously, his mind plagued with thoughts of the night before. Thinking of your mesmerizing features, remembering your soft touch and feeling something he's never felt before. You had changed him. He was no longer the cruel, power-hungry man he once was. No. he was something more. Something special, something warm. Something soothing. He was in love.

You had made your way downstairs to the ceremony entrance. There were more people than you expected. Your breathing started to increase slightly. It continued to increase until a firm hand was placed on the palm of your back. The action startled you slightly and intern silenced your breathing immediately.

"don't worry my dear, everything will be fine"

Nahkriin's kind words gave you the confidence you needed.

"thank you Nahkriin"

You gave him a soft hug which he replied with a tightened hold. However, very suddenly he raised his head and let go of you, placing his hand on your shoulders as he looked down to the floor.

"Nahkriin? Is everything okay?"

His face was shrouded in confusion looking you up and down.

"Nahkriin?"

He jolted his head back up and quickly changed his expression into one more cheerful and excited.

"Of cause my dear, shall we?"

He gave me my arm in which I wrapped around with my own. We began our descent down the aisle which caused people to raise and the bards to begin their melody's. Your stomach began to churn with nervousness but you could see Alduin. He was smiling and his smile melted all your fears away.

You made it to the end of the aisle. Nahkriin smiled at you before trading his hand for Alduins.

"you look wondrous, absolutely stunning"

Alduin spoke with a smile.

"thank you"

You returned his warm smile with a soft one.

"It was Mara that first gave birth to all of creation and pledged to watch over us as her children. It is from her love of us that we first learned to love one another. It is from this love that we learn that a life lived alone is no life at all. We gather here today, under Mara's loving gaze, to bear witness to the union of two souls in eternal companionship. May they journey forth together in this life and the next, in prosperity and poverty, and in joy and hardship. Do you agree to be bound together, in love, now and forever?"

"I do. Now and forever."

"I do. Now and forever."

Alduin gazed lovingly into your eyes as you did the same to him.

"Under the authority of Mara, the Divine of Love, I declare this couple to be...."

The sound of thunder began to echo around you as the sky turned a twisted grey. The shouts of a dragon could be heard and soon enough he appeared.

"Odahviing what are you doing here?!?"

"I just wanted to congratulate you on your big day, trust me, you'll be needing it"

Odahviing held a peculiar staff in his right hand. It was like nothing you had never seen before.

"Guards! Seize him!"

Ten guards began charging at Odahviing.

"By the way, do you like my new toy?"

His staff began to glow a hot orange before erupting gigantic flames of fire, rendering all guard's dead. The guest began to raise and change but before any of them could act, Odahviing had frozen them all with one single swipe.

"that's impossible"

"It's an ingenious little thing, many staffs joined together to create an effective, long lasting result"

Alduin began charging at Odahviing. As he did so Odahviing used the staff to raise the fallen guards he had just slain. Alduin was outnumbered. You advanced, to help him but was stopped by Nahkriin.

"What are you doing?!?!"

"Saving your life, Hilda take her to the hatch"

Whilst Odahviing was distracted. Hilda had led you into the gazebo and unlocked a secret passageway.

"come, my dear, we must hurry"

Hilda dragged you through the chamber, the passage closing rapidly behind you.

Odahviing had struck Alduin down with a strong bolt of lightning undoubtedly leaving him unconscious. Odahviing chuckled to himself before realizing your absence. He spotted Nahkriin, crawling on the ground as he had been struck down by one of the undead guards. Odahviing shot him with a paralysis beam. Nahkriin screamed in agony.

"Where is she?"

"I don't answer to you"

"you do now, I am the ruler of this land now"

"Not while she is still living you're not"

"your wrong"

Nahkriin began laughing at Odahviing temper. Odahviing silenced the old man with a hard struck to the face with the end of his staff.

The castle was now Odahviing.
