I was getting covered in angry tic tacs and the incoming spearmints(cause they're mints...anybody...). I heard Eva and Julia yelling at the little things too.
I then felt myself get beat with a stick. Like a piñata. Left and right. I thought it was more angry breath mints, so I twisted and fought the stick. Then I felt the tic tacs fall off of me like rats off the Titanic. Once most of the mints had fled, I stopped getting smacked by the stick. I turned around and saw Layla beating the tic tacs as they ran away in their little swarms.
She turned around, looked me up and down, and asked, "what did I miss?"
After telling her, she just sat there and stared open mouthed for what seemed like years. "Duuuuuuuuude..."
"Yeah. I need to get inside of this place." I looked at the boards. I punched them. I pulled at them. I kicked them. No dice.
Layla poked my shoulder. She handed me a green and white stick that was pointed(hehe spearmint). I pushed the point under the board and pushed. I could hear the nails popping out of the wall. But after ten or so nails came out, the board wouldn't budge. I called everyone over and we all strained against the stick until the board finally flew off the door.
"Anybody want to go in with me?" I asked. All of them seemed uneasy. Nobody really came forward until Layla raised her hand halfway. Julia kind of rose her hand too. Eva, not wanting to stand alone outside, huffed and rose her hand too.
I pulled on the door until it broke free of the extra nails. I poked my head through to make sure no rats were waiting to eat my face off. Once I deemed the coast clear, I motioned to the others to follow me. We walked in, cautious not to make a sound.
I led them to the back room where all of the boxes were. I pushed past the crates to get to the stairs that led to the house part. At the top of the stairs, I was surprised to see all of the doors except one open. I went to see what was inside each room. The doors on the right led to a kitchen and another bedroom. On the left was the bedroom I had entered the first time I had come here. The furthest door on the left was still closed.
I peeked into the bedroom on the left. There was nothing in there that would have eaten is so we all walked in. I looked a the desk.
It was empty.
None of the papers were on there. No reports. No inventory. And most importantly-
No book.
