I woke up at almost two in the morning because my brain didn't allow me to sleep anymore. I looked around with just my eyes, then I sat up. Everything looked fine. I didn't understand why I was woken up with such a bad feeling. I think the bunny felt me move because soon after, he looked up at me with questioning eyes. I pet his head and told him to go back to sleep.

I got up and walked around the house. I had my knife in hand and my senses on high alert. I tried to walk as quietly as I could so I wouldn't wake my friends or disturb any hidden killers. I gingerly trudged along, hoping that there was nothing in my house that was going to kill me.

Suddenly, I heard a thud, like something ran into a wall. I whipped around, ready to stab whatever was behind me, only to see that it was the bunny that scared the poop out of me.

"Not funny, little dude," I told him. He hopped up to my leg and rubbed himself against it while making a sound almost like purring. I sighed and picked him up into my arms. I walked with him for a while until I heard something big outside. It sounded like an explosion. It shuddered the entire house, rattling the doors and windows. I sped over to the nearest window and looked out. I was now on the second story of my house looking onto the cul de sac. I could see small lights out on the street.

I squinted to see what the lights where and what the exploding sound was. I could barely make out a mutt mix of candy, some holding torches that were burning something white. I looked around to see what the exploded thing was. I saw catapults made of peppermint bark and red vines. The bunny let out a terrified squeak and I turned in the direction he was looking in. He was staring, wide eyed, at a group of candy loading something into a catapult. It was a large, white sphere with rainbow specks.

The candy quickly backed away from the contraption and a barely audible command was yelled from an unknown source. A rope of red vines was snapped and the white sphere went flying.

Fast.

At a window.

Right at me.

I froze, unbelieving of the situation. I felt like I was frozen in carbonite. None of my limbs were doing what I told them to. That's when the bunny bit my wrist. I screamed in startled pain and dropped him. He landed with a thud, but immediately regained his footing and bit me on the ankle. That happened, coincidentally, where a fish bit me. I squealed and the small bit of trauma caused my whole leg to buckle. I fell to the right and landed like a sack of rocks on my side. My whole body went rigid with the need to cry out. I looked at the bunny with betrayed fire blazing in my eyes, but he looked at me with a plea of forgiveness in his.

A millisecond later, I heard a loud CRASH! I looked at the now shattered window, the sphere that had come through that window, and then back at the bunny. He looked at me, still pleading for forgiveness. I reached out and stroked his face to show I understood why he did it.

I army-crawled to the weird sphere. I looked at it. I had a theory, but I wasn't sure if I could trust it. The sphere was the size of a bowling ball and just about the weight of one too. I tested my theory by punching the sphere. I then tried to bite it. I recognized it as the candy I got for a quarter at the mall.

Jawbreakers.
