I held the bunny close until we had to keep walking. The darkness of night held hidden monsters we hadn't seen yet. I was so scared that we might run into something and I wouldn't be ready. It felt like years, but we finally made it to my house.
We all gathered in the living room. I fell onto the couch, exhausted. How much more torment could my mortal body endure? I was surprised I wasn't dead already. My mom wasn't home, so I told all of the girls to stay the night. Layla, Julia, and the bunny gathered around the rug while Eva helped me clean my wounds in the bathroom.
"Why did you go after him?" Eva asked. I winced at the alcoholic sting of the cleaning stuff. She dabbed again at my shoulder, but I flinched again and slapped her hand out of instinct.
"I'm sorry," I said. I sat as still as I could while Eva continued to clean the bites on my back and shoulders. I sighed. "I didn't want him to die."
"But he's a piece of candy."
I drew in a breath and held it for a little. I turned to face her. "Eva, this rabbit has a soul. He can think. He can cry. He is alive. And he hasn't tried once to hurt us."
"Intentionally," She added. I had to agree with her. My heroism and trying to save the bunny had almost cost my life. The thing was, I felt that he was as human as the rest of us. I knew he had a mind that worked.
I was smacked out of my thoughts when the sting of the cleaning stuff was felt again. "Lady, if you want this to be done fast, you have to stop moving."
I guess she had a point. It was taking forever.

Seriously, I think the bunny was starting to get too comfortable with us. He fell asleep on my lap. I was all covered in bandaids and gauze. I was really sore all over and I really wanted to sleep. As it got later and later, I tried, but I was terrified that something was going to attack me in my sleep.
I decided that I was going to sleep with a weapon nearby to protect against anything that tried to attack me. I gingerly picked up my phone, careful not to make a sound. I turned on my flashlight and slowly padded my way to the kitchen. Just as I turned around a counter to where the knives were, I heard a drawer close.
I let out a stale breath. The light I was holding started shaking. I started shaking. I shuffled forward again. I turned around the corner of the counter and almost choked on air.
The red gummy bear was in my house, staring at me. The same one that bit me that one day. The one that kickstarted this whole mess. He was now in my kitchen, in a readied stance, growling malevolently-
And he had a knife.
