It all happened too fast.
The car smashed against the side of our car.
My head slammed against the dashboard. I felt the blood flow out from my nose.
I woke up in the hospital.
Amy sat next to the hospital bed in a chair. She was holding my hand.
My head felt like it was going to burst.
"Wha- ," Amy cut me off.
"Oh honey! I'm so sorry!" she put her other hand on my shoulder. "You have a concussion... But you'll be fine."
I didn't say anything. My head was throbbing in pain. I just wanted to sleep. I wanted the pain to go away.
I fell asleep again.
I woke up again.
I fell asleep again.
I woke up again. Outside the stars were shining, it was night.
A nurse came in.
"Oh good you're awake!" the nurse whispered loudly, "Are you hungry sweetie?"
Now that she mentioned it I was starving. I put my hand on my stomach, too weak to speak.
She left and returned with a plate of toast, roast chicken, and hash browns. It was better than orphanage food. The nurse sat with me while I ate.
I finished it all and she took away the tray.
I fell asleep again.
