Author's Note

Hi! I hope your enjoying Any Orphan so far. I wanted to let reader's know that I will try to make every ten chapters a few years later. For example now and on chapters twenty, thirty, forty, etc. the time period will flash ahead. So if the main character, Amelia Lorensen, is now thirteen, in this chapter she turns 15. Thank you for reading the Author's Note, now please enjoy Chapter 10 of Any Orphan.

Life happened in the two years since I've been adopted. Mom enrolled me into school. I had one year in middle school. It is now summer and high school will start in a few months in September.

My 14th birthday was amazing. I inviting my friends for my first sleep over. They were jealous of my room!

Brutus and Estelle are still here. If you're wondering why no one has adopted them... maybe it is because they are huge trouble makers. Brutus' new favorite food in the cotton in the couch. Estelle's new cat tower is the window curtains. But inside I never want them to get adopted by anyone else. I'm still trying to persuade Amy to adopt them.

Over this time period as well I made a best friend.

On the first day of school I was completely nervous. I dropped my books right in the middle of the hall. I was so hopeless. While picking up my books I noticed a girl coming my way, opposite of the herd of kids.

"Hey are you new?"

I didn't answer her at first.

Then she helped me pick up my books. I nodded my head as she helped.

"I'm Deena," the girl said.

After I told her my name we became immediate best friends.

Deena was tan. She had bangs and short, brown hair. She had fashionable, round glasses over her dark brown eyes. Completely unlike me with a lighter skin tone, blue eyes, and blonde hair.

Though we were completely different on the outside, we were completely the same on the inside. We always finished each other's sentences..... and sandwiches.

Today, June, 25 it is my 15th birthday.

Me and Amy are cleaning up around the house and decorating for the guests to come over. Those guests including my close friends, six in total.

Deena was the first one over, as usual and the other five of my friends came soon after. First we opened up all the gifts.

They must have planned out what they were going to give me because they each got me makeup, all that would make a full face that matched well.

Deena's gift I opened last. Her card was better than the makeup gift. The front cover of the card was a collage of our friendship. It was the best gift I'd ever gotten.

The rest of the night we watched horror movies and did each other's nails and makeup while listening to P!ATD.

It was a blast.
