I wake up again to Amy talking to a nurse. The same nurse that sat with me and brought in my food.

I carefully shifted my head over to the clock above the door. It read 5:37 A.M.

"Thank you very much," Amy said to the nurse. The nurse walked out of the room.

I closed my eyes. I felt Amy's soft, warm hand move my hair out of my face. I opened my eyes to talk to her.

"Hi honey," she said warmly. I smiled. "Are you ready to get out of this place? The doc is letting you out of the hospital."

I was happy to get back to my beautiful room. And get back to Brutus and Estelle.

The nurse came back with a wheelchair. Amy helped me on to it. She rolled me out of the room and out into the parking lot with the nurse. She helped me into her car and the nurse went back into the hospital with the wheelchair.

I fell asleep in the car.

When I woke up again I was on the couch in the living room. Brutus had his huge head rested on my legs while he slept. Estelle was playing in the cat tower. I heard Amy washing dishes in the kitchen. I reached out my hand and pat Brutus on the head. Estelle, being jealous, pranced over and leaped on the couch, resting on my shoulder. Her tail flickered in my face. I chuckled quietly.

                                                     ...

Being a month and a half later I'm feeling pretty well. Regular visits to the doctor and lots and lots and lots of sleep helped get rid of my concussion earlier than the doctor thought. I was happy I could finally get over this head ache. Hah. Get it?

About a week ago me and Amy went shopping. I got a whole closet full of clothes! I now have so many clothes I feel like it takes an hour just to narrow down which outfit I should wear.

On that trip to the mall Amy also bought me an iPhone! It's so cool. There is so many things you can do with it. You can call, text, play games. None of which I could do at the orphanage.

That day too I felt like Amy was my new mom.

After we drove home I called her mom for the first time. The first time I said 'mom' out loud for as long as I can remember.

"Thanks for the new clothes..." It felt like forever before I added, "........... mom."

She just grinned and said, "You deserve it Attie."

I felt like I was really loved that day. I felt like I had a person to love that day too.
