A mouse scuffled about munching on a seed. Bravestar swiped his tongue around his whiskers an leaped at the tiny creature, sinking his teeth, tasting the warm blood of his fresh kill. He hung back in the shadows and waited just at the right moment. He took his mouse back to the camp. He saw Eaglekit on a low hanging branch in the camp, while her littermates Tigerkit and Sprucekit were doing the same, cheering her on.
"And what are you doing?" He called setting the mouse down.
"Being TimberClan warriors!" Tigerkit chirped.
"I'm the fiercest climber!" Eaglekit declared.
"No I am!" Sprucekit mewled. Some way off, Feathertuft was practicing battle moves on Russel. The tan and silver tom had been able to somewhat adjust to his surroundings, but had a lot of work to do, like Nighttail, if he wanted anyone to trust him. The tortoiseshell she-cat charged at him, but Russel tried to leap up, his paw slipped from beneath him and he fell as she teasingly put her paw on him to firmly hold him. "Here is where you would be in trouble." She explained. Bravestar watched them and smiled. He then saw Nettlepoppy, staring at a half eaten mouse she was feasting. He padded up to her. "Are you alright Nettlepoppy?" He asked.
"I'm fine.." She meowed.
Bravestar sat infront of her "What's wrong?" He mewed.
"I just killed a cat.." Nettlepoppy muttered.
"And he tried to kill you. It was the right thing to do." He told her.
"Yeah." She nodded her head but her green eyes shone with confusion.
"Nettlepoppy." He meowed.
She jolted as if she dozed off on him. "You did not do anything wrong." He told her.
Leopardheart padded up to him. "Bravestar, Brindlefrost of WolfClan and Almondfall of ViperClan have a message for you." She meowed. Bravestar stood up. The two she-cats were waiting by the camp entrance. The tabby tom padded over to them. "There's a gathering this evening. When the claw moon is seen." Almondfall meowed. Brindlefrost blinked, not saying anything, but noticed the almond she-cat's annoyance as a growl rumble in her throat. The two she-cats seemed unusual.
Bravestar studied them. "Would you like some prey?" He offered.
"Yes." Brindlefrost meowed before Almondfall could reply.
Bravestar nodded and flicked his tail towards the fresh kill pile. Almondfall padded up first. Brindlefrost carried a mouse while she carried the biggest piece. This clearly infuriated the mottled she-cat. "You know they'd small. Why a squirrel?" She asked.
"Because I want a squirrel." She mewed simply.
"They have at least five bouncing kits who could eat that." The WolfClan she-cat rumbled.
"And you care why?" The ViperClan warrior settled down.
"Kits are a gift. If you were a true queen you would understand that hunger will keep them healthy." The younger she-cat mewed.
"At least I don't get jealous of my own mate and sister." The older she-cat meowed.
She swung her muzzle at her. Soon, all of TimberClan was watching in intense silence. Almondfall calmly and ate her squirrel. Their noses were whiskers away from each other.
"What? You look like a kit who was forced to take a nap." She meowed. Brindlefrost bristled and nibbled on her mouse.
"What's with them?" Flintnose whispered in Bravestar's ear, his eyes on the two she-cats.
Almondfall smirked eating her squirrel. Bravestar shrugged. Shadeears was grooming herself while Nighttail was looking out for any sign of trouble on a branch along with Pikestalk.
Brindlefrost finished her mouse. "We can't thank you enough for your kindness. We hope to see you at the gathering." She meowed. The two she-cats padded out of the camp.
