"Stonewhisker! Stonewhisker!" TimberClan cheered. The gray tabby was bursting with pride, puffing out his chest as he got his warrior name.
Warriors padded up to congratulate him. The tom was beaming.
Suddenly, it looked like a WolfClan and ViperClan patrol entered the camp. They all looked half starved beaten and scratched and weak.
"What are you doing here?!" Crouchfoot snarled.
"This is TimberClan territory!" Flintnose put in with a hiss.
"We apologize but the camp has gone mad!" Darkshadow told them, his black and brown pelt covered in fresh scratches.
"Larkstep!" Ravenwing ran to the black and gray tabby she-cat.
"WolfClan and ViperClan warriors are at each other's throats! They won't cooperate on hunts!" She rasped.
Petaldust nodded her head. "Their starving us half to death."
"And some of the warriors are disappearing to the Thunderpaths and twoleg dens to find prey.." Mewoed Smallstep, a gray tom who was shaking from what looked to be hunger. "Mom!" Thistleear bounded to his mother, Ivyleaf. The black, white, and brown she-cat was skinny;her ribs showing.
"Onestar's on his ninth life.." Dawnfrost meowed.
Bravestar blinked, his eyes wide with shock. "Cats have resorted to twolegs for food." Whitefang of WolfClan put in.
"Twolegs?!" It was Echostream.
Ivyleaf nodded "It's like we seem to be the only sensible warriors left." Her mew was down and saddening.
"If Feralstorm's going to be leader soon, maybe he cam fix your problem!" Heatherfur mewed sounding spirited for the conjoined clan cats. The cats nodded. That was their only hope. "Whitestar's had to break up two fights today." Branchspots meowed.
"Whitestar nearly passed out from stress. Willowpelt had to give her relaxation herbs." Sparkfire put in.
"WolfClan's been feasting off deer carcasses and fighting over them.." Duststripe mewed weakly.
"You all look so starving.." Marrigoldrunner meowed sadly, padding over to brush her tail against Mistheart of ViperClan's flank.
"Can we give them some prey?" Leopardheart asked her mate and leader.
"You are welcome to help yourselves. I was just going to send out a hunting patrol." Bravestar mewed. "Also give these cats warm nest." He added to his warriors who were already busy before he even told them anything.
"Ah, a nest." Whitefang purred.
"When was the last time we haven't had to fight over those?" Mewed a pregnant queen. That was Sorrelheart. Her mate Badgerstalk have her a gentle nuzzle. She purred.
"Leopardheart, I want you to send Flintnose, his apprentice, Nightttail, his apprentice, Kinksetm, Stonewhisker, and Mallowtail and her apprentice all out for a hunting patrol." Bravestar meowed.
From a clearing in the camp, his kits were making somewhat makeshift nests from moss and bird feathers with Flowerpaw and Eaglepaw.
"These nests need more feathers beetle brain!" Dovekit squeaked to her brother Brownkit. Hollowkit was placing feathers in a neat line counting to herself. "One... two... three... four..."
"Good thing Tem's been catching birds lately!" Dovekit mewed giving a hop.
Hollowkit looked up. "How many more Nightdusk?" After what seemed to be a heartbeat of silence, she looked back to her littermates and the two apprentices.
"Ok! Guys six feathers pure nest!" She squeaked.
"You guys should have seen how far he jumped from that brach?" Lionkit beamed.
"Yeah! Nightdusk while we get more feathers can you check the nests?" She twitched her ears. "Ok! Come on guys!" The she-kit bounded forward.
They all followed after their sister. Bravestar looked at Leopardheart "Don't you think this has gone on long enough?"
"She just has an imagination." Her mate mewed.
"Wrong." Came a voice. It was their medicine cat Barkpelt.
Bravestar blinked looking confused. "What?" He asked the fluffy brown tom.
"That one has a gift that even I would never dare question and you two shouldn't either." Barkpelt mewed. He gave his fluffy brown pelt a lick. "She can see the dead.."
