Bravestar saw Flintnose and Crouchfoot enter the camp with Ravenwing, Finchflight, Thornfoot, Thunderclaw, Elmpoppy, and Leafpelt of the conjoined WolfClan and ViperClan. "Thistleear." Came a sharp meow. It was Ravenwing of WolfClan. Thistleear blinked up from a rabbit he was sharing with Quickfoot.
"Alright. Enough of this nonsense. You are coming home." He meowed.
"What are you talking about?" His son asked. "You leave the Clan? Your kin?" His father asked almost appalled.
"I will not live with WolfClan any longer." The warrior rumbled.
"What?!" It was Thornfoot. "How could you?! What about mom?! Foxfur?! Me?!"
"I regret not asking you to come with me." He mewed, his eyes darkening with sadness. "My kits will not leave the camp their mother and I raised them in. We are going home." Ravenwing's tail twitched.
"No I am not." Thistleear snarled.
Ravenwing was bristling. While Thunderclaw and Elmpoppy who had accompanied him exchanged a glance.
"I am not going back to a camp shared with WolfClan. I am a ViperClan cat." He mewed simply but also sadly.
The tom shook his head. "I am your father! I am WolfClan! Your mother had kits with me! Had you with me! You are coming home!" His voice carried outrage.
Thistleear looked down. "It's not you I'm angry at.." His tone grew sadder.
The tom's blue eyes darkened. "Then who?" He asked his son.
"It's the WolfClan Warriors I grew up with. They've changed so much. It's like they don't even recognize me as one of them. As any of us." He replied.
"Blackflight died last night.." Leafpelt mewed grimly. Bravestar blinked as his eyes widened. Was that a chilling reminder to them? Had the tom who trained them just moons ago died?
Thistleear stood up slowly. "What...?" He mewed.
"Your grandfather walks with StarClan now.." Ravenwing meowed.
Thistleear flattened his ears against his head and lowered his head. Thornfoot gave him a friendly nudge.
"In truth, I cannot return to the Clan my father died in.." Ravenwing admitted.
"Then why did you come here?" It was Echostream.
"To being my son home at first. But now, I feel like I can no longer stand to stay there.." The tom went on.
Thistleear then turned to look at Bravestar. "Would you allow my family to stay here?"
"But WolfClan.. everything we've done to protect it! We're throwing that away all for some.. some grief?!" Elmpoppy yowled. Thornfoot turned on Elmpoppy. "Shut it WolfClan adder-dung!" She hissed. The brown she-cat got in a crouch and leaped for her. The two she-cats were a tangle of fur and claws. "Enough!!" Bravestar yowled furiously.
The two she-cats looked at him as they stopped.
"No fighting in my camp!!" He hissed.
Thornfoot moved away and licked at a patch of torn fur. Elmpoppy shook her own fur.
"Look are they staying or not?" Menhit asked. "Because this fighting is quite bothersome.." He licked a paw and drew it over his ear.
Bravestar thought for a moment.
"But what if our Clanmates catch you guys here?" Finchflight fretted.
"They haven't been their best lately." Thunderclaw put in.
Thistleear flicked his tail. Bravestar was curious as to what that even meant. He knew the conjoined Clans were fighting each other but was it that bad?
"Bravestar please. Just a few quarter-moons at the least." Thistleear meowed.
"Onestar's slowly loosing life after life. My father's going to be leader soon. He hasn't even thought of possible deputies yet. He once considered Blackflight but he's gone." Leafpelt explained.
"And even if he were alive, my father would have to retire.." Ravenwing added.
Bravestar nodded his head. "Alright." He meowed at last. He almost felt bad for Ravenwing.
