The others made their way through the undergrowth and saw Menhit sitting on Shortfur and a patrol of AshClan cats that were just behind.
They blinked at him.
"My first enemy warrior!" Menhit declared. Feathertuft purred in amusement.
"It'll also be your last you fat kittypet!" Came a roar. Badgerfang.
Pearmist growled at him.
Aspenspark stood between them. "No fighting!" She snapped.
"But that fat cat is sitting on my sister!" The black and white warrior yowled.
"We'll be happy to smother you too!" Crouchfoot sneered.
"You think AshClan is too soft to fight do you?" Blossomclaw snarled at Echostream, her orange pelt scarred and unkempt as always. They graying tabby she-cat swiped at her nose. The AshClan warrior swayed and shook herself. "You'll pay for that!" She shrieked. Aspenspark lept in in between them. But that didn't stop Blossomclaw from pinning Echostream down. Heatherfur slammed into her flank and claws ferociously.
Badgerfang leaped at Crouchfoot until a brown flash blasted past. It was their clanmate Mallowtail.
"We are being ambushed!" Yowled Marshtail. Along with Mallowtail, were Poolhawk, Fircone, Nettlepoppy, Runningfall, and Nightfusk, bounding into battle their claws unsheathed.
Fircone swiped a cat that fled away. Nettlepoppy ran at Dewfoot who was fiercely behind Swiftslip fighting off Nighttail. Flintnose bristled in front of Badgerfang. "You dare threaten TimberClan?!" He spat.
The AshClan warrior bristled. "You insulted my Clan's name!" Retorted the warrior.
"Then I see there's no difference between us.." he hissed lowly.
He had a point. In a shocking realization, both warriors were ready to defend the names of their clans to their deaths.
TimberClan was small but they showed that they were ready to fight.
Badgerfang pinned the gray and white warrior down. "Battles are inevitable you mangey horror!" The TimberClan warrior spat. "Then let this one be your last!" He raised his paw to deliver the death blow.
Suddenly, to both Clan's astonishments, their leaders stood between them. Not facing their warriors, but each other. They had come among the fray without as much as a warrior noticing.
But this moment stopped them.
"Take your Clan and move off. Now." Bravestar snarled.
To Bravestar's surprise, he saw Foxstar turn to pad away with Beetail at his side. He expected him to stay and fight with his warriors. But Foxstar kept his head high leading Ashcan away.
"That's right walk away kittypets.." Runningfall muttered.
Foxstar stopped in his tracks. "What?" His tone was at a hiss.
"You're nothing but a bunch of kittypets!" Crouchfoot sneered.
Flintnose growled his agreement.
Foxstar slowly turned around. "Well..that's a suprise. We've lived here for seasons while you have lived here for a few moons.." His tone was as hard as ice.
"That doesn't mean I'm to defend my Clan if it costs me my lives." Bravestar growled.
"Oh I understand that. But your clan is insulting my clan and that isn't very polite. We are leaders. Mabye you should start acting like one."
"You dare insult me?!" Bravestar yowled. He wasn't going to take this insult lying down. "Well it seems your warriors have no problem insulting me. And I'm keeping my cool about it. Mabye if you didn't want to be insulted you should be careful about how your warriors speak to me." The ginger tabby meowed. "Give us the word, Bravestar, and we'll tear them apart!" Flintnose growled.
"Your warriors are eager. Good and bad. One day that could get them killed." Foxstar meowed.
The brown tabby looked to see his warriors had scratches that would take Barkpelt ages to treat. He didn't want one of his warriors to die, even if death was unavoidable.
"Now if you excuse me Bravestar. We will be leaving." He meowed.
"Come TimberClan. It's time we go home.." Bravestar rumbled as he padded off in the direction of the camp. While Foxstar turned and led his clan away.
