Ivy's POV,
When I woke up, the first thing that went through my head was how did I get to bed. Then, I managed to reach out, only to find the bed had to be twice the size of mine. I quickly sat up, only to be met by white walls with black trim instead of my normal gray ones. I hesitantly glanced around the room, trying to remember what had happened last night, until it all came flooding back into my mind.
Looking down at my wrists, I saw they were bandaged up. That meant it wasn't a dream and I really was at Avi's house. "Of all people..." I muttered to myself, but I was brought out of my thoughts by the bathroom door opening.
"Good, you're awake," Avi said as he walked out in nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist. I did my best not to stare, instead focusing my attention on my hands. I was still in the clothes from yesterday. "Go shower, I'll find something for you to wear. We wouldn't want to be late."
"I told you last night, I'm not going back," I said softly, my voice barely above a whisper partially due to being so tired.
"Of course you are because you know that this is a once in a lifetime chance and you love it so far," he said in a knowing tone.
I still didn't move for several drawn out moments, but eventually, I got up and silently disappeared into the bathroom, closing and locking the door behind me. When I got out the shower, I wrapped a towel around myself and peeked out of the bathroom, finding the bedroom empty.
Walking out, I noticed some clothes on the bed. Probably for me. Having no other choice, I put on the same bra and underwear from the previous day before hesitantly slipping on the sweatpants laid out for me. I had to roll the waist several times just to get them to stay on me without me having to worry. I grabbed the black shirt - well hoodie - left for me and slid it on. "Dragons don't believe in you either," I said softly as I read the hoodie.
Shaking my head a bit, I pulled the sleeves down to hide the cuts and put my shoes on. I ran my fingers through my hair and threw it up in a messy bun before cleaning up any smudging from my makeup. When I was satisfied, I put my glasses on and opened the door, almost immediately met with the sound of barking.
Looking down, I smiled a bit at the puppy sniffing my feet. I reached down and picked him up, kissing his head gently as I found my way downstairs to the kitchen. I put the dog down and looked up to see Avi standing over the stove and stirring something. He had on a plaid button up shirt and black skinny jeans with a black beanie resting on his head. I guess I could say it was his usual.
"I see you met Draco. Sit and eat," he said suddenly, pointing to the stools at the island where a plate of pancakes, eggs, and bacon sat with a glass of orange juice. I looked down at my covered wrists and took my right one in my hand, squeezing it gently. Hissing in a bit of pain, I immediately let go and take a small bite of my food. No touching my arms then.
As I ate, I looked up and watched him curiously, thankful his back was to me. Almost all week he had been a jerk to me and putting me down, but now? It was the polar opposite. Not to mention the way he had treated me last night and now breakfast. It was confusing. It almost seemed like he was trying to hide this side of him, but I couldn't figure out why.
"Why are you being nice to me?" I finally asked when I finished eating.
"Because I know what you're feeling," Avi answered without looking at me. The answer was simple, too simple. I needed to know more, but I kept quiet and waited for him to finish.
When he did, he cleaned up the kitchen quickly and ushered me out to his car. "I can drive myself," I said, carefully crossing my arms stubbornly.
"I know. I'm not letting you," he said, opening my door and staring at me expectantly. I got in and rolled my eyes a bit as he closed the door and got in on his side. The ride there was silent. I stared out the window, playing with the ends of the sleeves as I thought about how everyone else would react to me being there. I had texted them last night to let them know I wasn't going to be there then turned off my phone before they could talk me out of it, so there was no telling.
