Stella's POV- April 2016
"My schedule is much more flexible this quarter. I technically do not need to be on campus either Tuesday or Friday" I told my dad.
He glanced up from the meat sauce he was stirring.
"How many hours do you need to be in lab?"
"8 hours a week" I said.
"How are you planning that out?"
"My plan is to go after my classes on Monday and Wednesday since Thursday is my busy day" I said.
"Are you planning on doing 4 hours every Monday or Wednesday?"
I shook my head.
"No, I was thinking 2 hours every Monday and Wednesday and either go to lab for 4 hours on Tuesday or Friday" I told him.
"What do they have you doing right now?"
"I'm not doing any research this quarter, the professor in charge wants me to understand the material. I'm basically reading on the research and discussing it with my soon to be thesis advisor" I said.
"That's nice that your professor is transitioning you slowly"
I nodded.
"I get to be a part of the research when fall quarter comes around, and there's a chance I can use the research in my thesis" I told him.
"Will your thesis and dissertation be about the same thing?"
"I was thinking about just continuing my research for my dissertation" I admitted.
"That's a smart thing to do"
I nodded.
"I have to talk to you about something"
"I figured" I said.
It was a Thursday evening and my dad was over. I didn't mind having my parents over but that was because I had good relation with them. My schedule was really nice this quarter considering I had 9:30AM classes and was done before 2pm even if I went to lab on Monday's and Wednesday's. Today happened to be Thursday, which was considered to be my long day.
"Israel heard back from interning at UCLA this summer"
"He got in?" I asked.
He smiled and nodded.
"He got the internship"
I smiled and reached for my phone.
"Let me send him a quick text" I said.
He chuckled and watched as I sent Israel a quick text, congratulating him.
"Sonia is planning to live with you during the summer"
I nodded.
"Would you mind if Israel stayed here as well?"
Sonia had actually met Israel during her freshmen year. He was one of her roommates' Chemistry tutor. He was born and raised in Minnesota, Minneapolis to be more specific. His mom passed away when he was 15 years old, and he jumped around from foster home to another until the day he turned 18. I cried when he was over for spring break and admitted that he had never had his own bed until he was in college. It's kind of why my dad allowed him to sleep with Sonia during his stay.
"How would the rooming situation go about?" I asked.
"I trust him enough to let him sleep with Sonia in her room"
