Stella's POV- July 2016

"Who's picking you up?"

"Trayce" I answered.

I looked at Anthony who raised an eyebrow.

"So he didn't travel with the team?"

I shook my head.

"So he did tweak his back more on Sunday"

Trayce was pulled out of the game on Sunday against the Padres. The Dodgers were calling it lower back "irritation"

"Yeah, he's got a doctor's appointment in about an hour" I answered.

He scrunched up his nose.

"Well at least he's finally getting checked out"

"Trayce and Dave had a talk after Sunday's game. They want to run on some tests just to make sure everything is ok, so he skipped the trip" I replied.

"He should get an MRI, CT just so they can rule everything"

I smiled.

"The future Doctor in you is showing" I teased.

He rolled his eyes.

"You should just give Trayce a key already"

"I don't know what you're talking about" I stated.

He grinned and shook his head.

"I know you two aren't having sex because I haven't heard anything"

I felt my cheeks begin to heat up and I smacked his arm as he threw his head back laughing.

"I'm kidding! The loud ones are your sister and Israel"

That's true, those two were not being sneaky what so ever. I needed to talk with Sonia to ask if she was using protection.

"Will you be back late?"

We both glanced at the door when we heard the bell ring.

"I don't think so" I admitted.

He nodded and squeezed my shoulder as he made his way over to the guy who was looking at engagement rings. The front door opened and I smiled as Trayce made his way inside.

"Ready to go?"

I glanced at the clock and nodded.

"Yeah, just let me clock out first" I told him.

He nodded and pulled out his phone. I made my way to the backroom and grabbed my purse. I clocked out and made my way back to the front.

"I'll see you at home" I called out to Anthony.

He glanced up and waved as I made my way to Trayce.

"Do you mind driving?"

"Not at all, lead the way" I said as he put his arm over my shoulder.

I smiled as he kissed my cheek and quickly pecked my lips.

"Is your back feeling a little better?" I asked.

"It just feels sore right now"

I nodded and hugged his waist as we walked.

"I like your braids"

"Thank you, Anthony braided them for me" I said.

"How did he learn how to braid hair?"

"Sonia always asked him to braid her hair since it's the only way it stays in place when she's wearing her helmet" I answered.

"Did you braid your hair for your games?"

"Sometimes, it was usually in a ponytail though" I replied.

He nodded.

"Your dad told me he actually recorded a few of your games"

I scrunched up my nose and he smiled.

"I need all the pointers I can get"

"You don't need anything, you're a great outfielder" I told him.

"My mom and you are the only people who seem to think that"

"Your mother is always right" I stated.

He looked down at me and smiled.

"That she is"

I nodded and smiled as he kissed my forehead.

"Sonia told me to tell you that we're not allowed to eat out because she's making dinner tonight"

"She's making BBQ ribs and mashed potatoes" I told him.

"Do her ribs taste like yours?"

"They taste better" I admitted.

"Well at least I have something to look forward to today"

He sighed and let go of me as we approached his car. I smiled as he opened the car door for me, and once I was inside he closed the door. While he went around, I put on my seatbelt. Just as he got in, I turned on the car and looked at him.

"You'll be ok" I assured him as he put on his seatbelt.

"Let's hope so"

I reached for his hand and squeezed it. He was nervous and I didn't blame him, his career was on the line.
