Trayce's POV- August 2016

"How's Stella?"

I looked at Doc and sighed.

"Mad at me" I admitted.

He chuckled and raised an eyebrow.

"Why?"

"Cause I didn't exactly tell her how much my back and leg were hurting" I stated.

He hummed and shook his head. I had told Stella about the back pain, but I did not tell her the pain randomly shot up my leg.

"You don't give her enough credit Trayce"

"What do you mean?" I asked.

He signaled for me to follow him to his office, and once we were inside he signaled for me to take a seat.

"First of all how dare you not tell me that your girlfriend played collegiate softball until I asked you"

"I didn't think it was important" I admitted.

"I had a hunch and I probably scared her off a few times because I just stared at her"

I laughed because he was right.

"That explains a lot actually" I said.

"So I did freak her out?"

I nodded and he chuckled.

"Well I am sorry about that"

I shrugged.

"That girl sees right through you"

I raised an eyebrow.

"She's good at reading people Trayce"

That she was.

"She probably knows when you're lying"

Always.

"Yup" I said earning a hum from him.

"Why do you lie to her then?"

"Because I don't want to hear No" I told him.

He looked at me and sighed.

"Well I will be the first to tell you"

I closed my eyes and leaned back against the chair.

"We both know that the Doctor's appointment you have this week is not going to go the way you hope"

I covered my face with my arm.

"I feel better" I said.

"I bet you do, you're taking pain medication. You went from not taking anything to taking it all"

"Do you think I'm done for the season?" I asked.

There was a light knock on the door and I tried to compose myself.

"Come in"

The door opened and Stella peaked inside. I didn't think Stella was going to stay to watch the game.

"Sorry I took so long to get here, Callie wouldn't let me come"

Doc chuckled.

"Come on in, take a seat"

She closed the door and took a seat next to me.

"I was talking to Trayce about his evaluation he's got this week"

She nodded slowly.

"Stella, I'm going to ask you a question and I want you to be completely honest"

"Ok"

He glanced at me and sat up a bit.

"What do you think the doctor is going to tell Trayce when he gets reexamined this week"

She lightly squeezed my hand and bit her bottom lip.

"Trayce doesn't want to hear my answer"

Doc hummed and looked at me.

"Why not Trayce?"

I let go of Stella's hand and sighed.

"Because I know I'm done for the season" I answered.

Doc nodded.

"It looks like you just answered your own question Trayce"

I nodded slowly.

"You can push her away all you want, just know it's better not to go through this alone"

I looked at Stella who was holding both her hands while looking down at her lap.

"You two can go"

Stella stood up and excused herself. I sighed as she bolted out of the room.

"Good luck fixing that"

I stood up and Doc smiled.

"At least you'll be distracted from your injury"

"I'd rather still be in pain" I admitted.

I excused myself and made my way out.

"Did you see what way Stella went?" I asked Joc.

He looked at me and nodded.

"I just bumped into her actually. She asked me if I could take you home"

"Can you drop me off at her place?" I asked him.

"Yeah, of course"

I nodded and we made our way towards the parking lot.

"She was pretty mad"

"We got into a fight this morning" I told him.

He raised an eyebrow.

"Was Anthony there?"

I shook my head.

"He would have probably kicked my ass if he was" I admitted.

He hummed.

"Her sister is back in Minnesota, right?"

"Yup" I replied.

"She probably would have kicked your ass"

"Her sister's boyfriend almost kicked my ass a couple of days ago" I stated.

"What did you tell Stella that got him so mad?"

Joc stopped walking and looked at me.

"I get that you're injured and I bet it sucks to not be able to do anything"

I nodded.

"I know you don't like hearing it but I'm going to tell you anyways because I actually like Stella for you"

I already knew what he was going to tell me, Israel had told me the exact same thing a couple of days ago.

"Stella must really love you if she hasn't dumped your ass"

The exact same thing Israel had said.

"You've been a complete dick to her, and you need to apologize to her. I will help you because I like her and she makes real good food that I sometimes eat"

"Thanks Joc, I feel the love" I stated.

He rolled his eyes.

"Stella made me promise I wouldn't punch you, and she promised me food when I got back which is the only reason why I even agreed to give you a ride"

"I figured" I admitted.

"So let's go get some flowers and her favorite chocolate"

He lightly patted my back and I flinched as the pain began in my lower back.

"Sorry man, I had to"

A/N: As my first deadline approaches, I am completely anxious. I really need to send those grad school applications and just relax. Enough about me, i'll try to post in a bit.
