Trayce's POV- April 2016

I made my way over to Stella who was leaning against the wall as she waited for the fireworks. It was a Friday night and the Dodgers had lost 1-5 to the Padres.

"Hey" I said getting her attention.

She turned around and smiled.

"I think you made it just in time"

I smiled at her and leaned down to give her a quick kiss just as the fireworks started.

"How was dinner with my parents?" I asked.

Stella had invited my parents over for dinner. My mom was really excited to try Stella's food.

"I made enchiladas and rice"

She looked up and smiled.

"I have the leftovers in the car"

"My starving self thanks you" I told her.

She leaned her back against my chest and I took the time to wrap my arms around her.

"Did my mom talk to you about Klay's proposition?" I asked.

She hummed and nodded slowly.

"I don't like the idea of him paying for everything"

The Dodgers had a roadtrip to SF in June and Klay wanted to meet Stella.

"What if his season is over before that?"

I shrugged.

"He usually stays there for a bit before heading down" I told her.

She nodded slowly.

"It's a nice gesture, and I can't remember if that's the weekend after or before finals"

"It's before, the same week Nolan will be here" I said.

She had 2 in class finals and 1 take home final that week, so there was a chance that she may not meet Nolan.

"I told your mom I would think about it, and I will"

"He just wants to meet you since there's a chance he'll make the Olympic team" I stated.

"I know which is why I told your mom I'd get back to him"

"Want to head out?" I asked her.

She nodded and I turned around to see whom she smiled at. Corey was making his way over, and he sighed of relief when he saw us.

"Please tell me you're heading home?"

I nodded.

"Could I get a ride? Joc and Alex left already and I saw your stuff was still in your locker"

"It's Stella's car" I told him.

He turned to Stella who smiled.

"Of course I'll give you a ride, let's head out"

"Let's head to the locker and get our stuff" I said.

Stella nodded and turned to Corey who gave her a slight hug.

"How's your girlfriend?"

I made my way into the lockerroom and quickly grabbed my stuff. I have to admit that I was a bit jealous at how friendly Corey was towards Stella, but I realized I was just overreacting. Most of their conversations had to do with Corey's girlfriend.

"So you don't celebrate Mother's day?"

Stella laughed, as Corey looked at her a bit confused.

"My mom is of Mexican decent, and they celebrate Mother's day on May 10"

He nodded slowly.

"But since it falls on a week day we go to dinner the Sunday before and send mom flowers on May 10"

I made a mental note to send flowers to Emma on May 10, not May 8.

"Thanks for the ride"

I chuckled as Stella rolled her eyes at Corey.

"We're going to the same place, why would I not give you a ride?"

He shrugged.

"Are you coming to tomorrow's game?"

She nodded.

"I might be a little late"

"Why?" I asked.

She looked at me.

"The NHL draft lottery is tomorrow"

Corey raised an eyebrow and she grinned.

"You know another world exists out of ballparks and your home, right Corey?"

He rolled his eyes.

"I know the projected first overall pick, and I want to know where he will be playing next season"

"Sonia knows him?" I asked.

Stella nodded.

"Yeah, she technically grew up playing hockey with him"

"That's pretty cool" I admitted as we made our way into the parking lot.

"They talk every now and then, it's hard especially since he's in Switzerland and she's busy with school"

"Why is he in Switzerland?" I asked.

"He wasn't eligible for the draft by 2 days, so for his last year he decided to go pro cause that's what over achievers like him do"

Corey chuckled.

"You know Auston Matthews?"

Stella turned to him and nodded.

"I read a hockey article by accident"

She laughed.

"How do you read an article by accident?"

I smiled as I watched how she pushed his buttons.

"It was about baseball!"

She nudged him and nodded.

"As a kid he played both hockey and baseball. At the beginning of his teen years he decided to give up baseball and focus more on hockey"

Stella reached into her purse and pulled out her keys. I held the door open for her and closed it once she was seated in the driver's seat. I went around and got into the car just as Stella put on her seatbelt.

"Is this food?"

I turned and looked at him.

"That's mine" I stated.

He glanced up.

"You're sharing, right?"

"No" I told him.

He frowned earning a giggle from Stella.

"Corey put on your seatbelt and maybe I'll make Trayce share his food"

I looked at Stella who smiled as she pulled the car out of the parking spot.

"When is the NHL draft?" I asked her.

I stretched out my hand and smiled as Corey handed me the leftovers.

"June 24 and 25"

"Your sister will be here by then" I said.

"Share with Corey"

I looked at Stella and frowned as Corey laughed.
