Stella's POV- April 2016

I watched as Trayce's eyes widened as his parents suggested I stay with them instead of going to Angel Stadium with Trayce.

"I'm sure Stella wouldn't mind"

I smiled at Trayce as he looked at me.

"I don't mind" I admitted.

His parents, Mychal and Julie had invited Trayce and I over for a late brunch.

"We came in Stella's car"

Julie smiled.

"You can take my car honey, Stella can drive us there"

Trayce was not going to win this.

"You're going to be late" I stated.

He looked at me and frowned a bit earning a chuckle from his dad, Mychal

"Son, there's no reason for her to be this early"

Mychal had a point; there was no reason for me to be there this early.

"I'll be fine" I told him.

He let out a sigh.

"Fine"

He hugged his parents' goodbye and turned to look at me.

"Walk me to the car?"

I nodded.

"Of course" I said.

I stood up and followed him out once his mom handed him her car keys.

"Let me go get the baby pictures"

I smiled and excused myself as I followed Trayce out. Once we were outside he turned to me and sighed.

"I'm so sorry"

"I don't mind, it's fine" I admitted.

"My mom can be a bit over protective"

"You're the baby of the family, she's allowed to be" I said.

"Corey wanted you to meet his girlfriend"

I smiled.

"I will meet her when your parents and I get there" I promised.

He sighed and unlocked his mom's car.

"I'll see you before the game" I told him.

He nodded and opened the car door.

"You still have a chance to leave with me"

I laughed and shook my head.

"I'll be fine" I assured him as he turned on the car.

He let out a sigh and pulled me into a hug.

"Text me when you're on your way?"

I nodded and he gave me a quick peck on my lips before he got into the car. I watched as he drove away before I made my way inside. Julie was standing in front of the coffee table looking through a box that was labeled "1991"

"We moved back to Portland a little after Trayce was born"

She set a book on the couch and sat down.

"Come sit"

I took a seat next to her and she opened the book.

"Have you ever been to Portland?"

I shook my head.

"Trayce told me that you and Mychal met at a gym there" I said.

She smiled and nodded.

"How did your parents meet?"

"My dad was actually my mom's TA" I stated.

"Really?"

I nodded.

"Both my parents are engineers" I started.

She looked at me and I smiled.

"My dad was actually my mom's TA her junior year of college, but he asked her out once she technically wasn't his student" I told her.

"Did she say yes?"

I nodded.

"My mom agreed to go on a date with him, and obviously the date went well since they got married 2 years later" I said.

She smiled.

"What a beautiful ring you have"

She reached for my right hand to take a better look at my ring

She reached for my right hand to take a better look at my ring

"My parents got it for me for my 15th birthday. This is actually a replica of my mom's engagement ring" I said.

I smiled and shrugged.

"When my dad proposed he didn't have a ring, and he actually let my mom choose her ring" I told her.

My mom fell in love with the ring when she saw it.

"They married young"

I nodded.

"Yeah, they did. My mom was 22 and my dad was 24" I told her.

They married in June of 1993, and I was born 8 months later.

"Growing up I was obsessed with my mom's ring, and I cried when she let me try it on and it didn't fit" I admitted.

I shrugged.

"My parents didn't have much when they got married. To me the ring symbolizes the love I want the man I marry to give me" I said.

I looked at her to see she was smiling at me.

"Honey I already think you're perfect for my son, don't add more because I will cry"

She squeezed my hands.

"Did your parents play any sports?"

I laughed and shook my head.

"My dad is the youngest of 6 and the only boy, so he grew up as a theater kid. My mom was a book worm who kept to herself" I said.

She nodded.

"I played Volleyball"

I nodded.

"Trayce told me, he says you're the best athlete in the household" I stated.

She smiled.

"I wasn't that good"

I looked at Mychal who was quietly watching us.

"She's modest"

Not only did I get to see baby photos of Trayce, but also I got to see videos of him.
