"Christine, do you want to go get the pizza or something?" I asked as we got to my door.
"Luke, why are you acting twitchy?"
"What do you mean twitchy babe?" I heard something slam inside my apartment and I hung my head. "Look, there's just someone here and I'm not really comfortable with you meeting him yet," I said putting my hand on her shoulder.
"Should I be worried about this person?" She said grabbing my hand.
"No, no babe it's not like that. It's...he's a bit...he needs to be warmed up first and then the next time he's over I can introduce you." This was the truth about Jack, he always had to be warmed up into meeting someone or doing something so he wouldn't cause a scene. And the way things have been going with Christine, I think it'd be best to wait for her to meet my brother.
"Okay, I'll see you in an hour," she said hugging me. I buried my head in her neck and squeezed her body into mine.
"Call me when you're on your way back," I said as I handed her the car keys.
"I will. See you in a bit babe," she said kissing my cheek and going towards the elevator. I watched as she got inside and waved bye as it shut. Bowing my head, I pulled my lanyard out of my pocket and got my house key into the door. I really needed to change the locks if he kept doing this, he hasn't done this in so long.
Looking at my apartment, everything was alright. Nothing was destroyed, nothing was on fire (I mean it's only happened like once but still you should be worried if your brother lights your couch on fire) and nothing was missing. I threw my backpack on the floor and looked around, not wanting to call out his name. I looked in the kitchen, and everything was where I left it. The couch cushions hadn't been moved, and there was nothing coming from the balcony. As I walked towards my bedroom, there was the subtle strumming of my guitar strings though, and horrible at that considering he couldn't play anything except for a sympathy card.
Opening the door, he looked at me with that stupid ass smile of his, one he held when he was expecting something. "Little brother! Glad to see you finally made it home! You know, it's not nice to leave people waiting for long periods of time," he said putting the guitar down and walking over to me.
"It's also not nice to come into someones house unannounced," I said as he took me into a hug I really didn't want to be in, but I accepted it because hey, this ass paid my rent. "Why are you here? You didn't forget to pay my rent did you?"
"No, your rent is paid until April, calm down. So, I was talking to Betting earlier today." He pulled a sly smile and I cringed. I hope he didn't tell him anything he didn't need to know.
"What did Betting say?" I asked as he walked towards my dresser where there was a picture of Christine and I from our home coming.
"Well, you're going to USC. And you're going to USC cause of her?" He asked picking up the picture and pointing to her. "You could've called and said you have a girlfriend, Luke."
"I didn't think it was important to tell you about my love life seeing as you haven't had one in two years. All you do is go from girl to girl, one night stand after another." I walked over to him and took the picture, placing it back in its place and grabbing my lip ring, sliding it in.
"Yeah, and you used to be the same. Then you turned eighteen and everything changed for you. You probably haven't even laid a finger on this girl, have you?"
"That's not important. But remember last February that delivery we made to that Michaels kid?" I asked as I walked out of the room, him obviously following me.
"Yeah, it was a lot of coke for someone his age."
"Yeah, that Michaels kid was her boyfriend. So I really don't want to talk about it because when she brought it up she got emotional about it and there was crying and...we visited his grave and shit and-"
