The crunch of metal on metal, the sound of glass breaking, bones breaking, flesh ripping. My head rolled on the asphalt as my arms twitched against their will, my leg numbing as a wetness surrounded it, my flesh burning at the cool air. I looked over, the dent in the semi truck and the crushed convertible sitting on the freeway. Cars were stopped, lights were shining, and I could hear the struggled cough of death come from next to me.

"C-Christine," I heard someone moan out. I turned my head again, my hair tangling with broken glass and spilt oil. "Christine," the voice moaned again.

"Teddy," I coughed out. My chest felt like a thousand weights were sitting on it, my leg now on fire as I pushed myself up on my arm, the other one waving around uselessly. I looked down, my femur sticking out of my leg, the bone drenched in both wet and dry blood as I saw the rest of my leg twisted outwards.

"Christine," Teddy moaned out again, his voice struggled and pained. "Help," he coughed out as he tried to sit up.

I scooted myself over to him and looked at him. His stomach was gashed open, his head bleeding and his cheek ripped out from the flying shards of both metal and gas. "Oh my god Teddy," I said as I sat up the best I could next to him. My good hand went to the one on his chest, his fingers tightening around my palm tightly as he let out strangled breaths. "You're gonna be okay Teddy."

"Don't lie to me Christine, it's not your best suit," he said looking up at the smog infested night sky. The smell of wet asphalt filled my nose as it began drizzling on the freeway, the surrounding mountains absorbing the overly needed moisture. "Christine, stay with me until it's over."

"Teddy, don't talk like this. The ambulance is on their way, they're gonna come and get you and me and they're gonna fix us babe. They're gonna make us right again and then we won't have to know this horrible thing happened. It's just gonna be a memory," I said running my hand through his hair. He reached up and took my hand away and kissed it before laying it over his heart.

"No one has ever been as nice to me as you have Christine," he said, his eyes darting every which way. "No one's loved me as much as you ever have. No one has ever cared. Stay with me till the end." His eyes finally settled on my face, my tear streaked face. My eyes stung from crying, my lip quivering and my cheeks hurting from the impact of being flung out of a car and onto the ground.

"Teddy, please stop talking like that. Please," I said tightening my grip on his hand. "You're gonna be alright babe, they're gonna...they're gonna make everything better don't you worry about it." I turned my head as I heard the sirens of police cars and the ambulance. "Can you hear it Teddy? They're almost here, just hold on please. Please just hold on for me." My chest began to hurt even more than it already did, my breath becoming a struggled mess.

"Christine, is the moon out tonight?"

"Yes. Why?"

"I was just wondering if it was supposed to be this bright out."

"Teddy Daniels don't you fucking leave me! They're almost here just hold on a little bit longer please!" I grabbed his hand and looked down on him.

"Christine, come here real quick, please," he said motioning to come level to his face. I tried my best at scooting away from him to lower myself down. My hair made a curtain from the outside world, the world we both tried so desperately to forget.

"Teddy please don't leave me. I love you." My forehead brushed up against his and I watched pathetically as my tears rolled down my nose and onto his bloody cheek.
