'the most beautiful smile'
"You wanna to get a ride back to the apartment complex? My shift ends in like ten minutes," I offered Troye who ran his fingers over a shirt.
"Oh uh yeah thanks Jacob," he said with a sweet smile.
"You have the most beautiful smile Troye," I said without thinking, my eyes growing wide when I realised. But it was fine and definitely worth it when he giggled and blushed bright crimson.
"You're such a flirt Bixenman," he said smiling even more and shook his head while going over to feel a woollen scarf.
"You love it," I said, surprising myself at how confident I was being, I mean I never said these kinds of things out loud but with Troye I just seemed to blurt them out, I think he needed to hear these kinds of things more often too. He also blushed so easily which was a great bonus.
"Shut up," he giggled as he made his way, Bruno tugging him in the direction to avoid him from running into a clothing rack.
"Jacob," Jenn said walking in with a smile. "There is not long left, you can go if you want."
"Oh yeah uh thanks so much Jenn," I was grateful, I really felt in need of spending some time with Troye.
"No, thank you Jacob. I hope you don't work this well only on the first day," she teased yet had an underlying warning in her tone.
"Definitely not, see you tomorrow Jenn," I said, taking off my name badge and going to Troye's side. "You ready to go," I asked, his hand had been on a silky button up shirt, it was black but had gorgeous detail on it when you looked closer, it was such a nice shirt and I could see Troye looking great in it as well.
"Uh yeah," he said somewhat distracted, letting go reluctantly of the shirt's sleeve and tugging on the leash to get Bruno's attention. I lead the two out and got to my car, opening the door for Troye. "You sure you okay with Bruno being in here?" he asked hesitantly.
"Of course, he is so well trained and besides he has been in a car before right?" Troye nodded. "Yeah it's fine," I took Bruno's leash from Troye's tight grip, leading him into the back and closing the door behind him. As I thought, he lay down on the back row of seats immediately and stayed still, not taking his eyes off Troye from in the passenger seat.
I got into the driver's side to see Troye trying to find the seatbelt with a struggle in the unfamiliar space.
"Troye, let me," I said while he stopped trying, letting out an annoyed huff. "Hey it's okay," I insisted.
"I'm sorry I just hate being dependent on others," he said looking down, wearing an expression that I wanted to replace with a smile.
"It's fine to get help sometimes, even though I understand what you saying okay?" he nodded but kept quiet then I leaned over, taking the seatbelt across his small form and clicking it into place. "Is it fine?"
"Perfect, thank you J," he said, a small smile returning to his lips.
"So did your day go well?" I asked while starting the car and backing out onto the street.
"Yeah actually, I think I worried over nothing really. My guide's name is Lisa. She is so nice and so patient, like you really," I smiled, I'm happy he knew I was patient with him. I was and I was really happy he knew that.
"Good T. Bruno," I called to the dog behind us, instantly getting his attention. "How was your day buddy?" Troye chuckled at the question while Bruno just gave me a tail wag. "I'm happy for you thought T, I'm happy things are going smooth and if you ever need help or even just someone to help you find something in your apartment I will be there as fast as I can," I said honestly."Thank you Jacob, I offer the same thing. I mean obviously if you lost your keys or something I'm no help," we chuckled in unison, "but if I'm able to help I want you to know I'm there too."
"Thank you."
I'm happy I have made a friend here in New York and thankful it has been someone like Troye. I have never met anyone like him in my life and don't think I ever will.
"You want to hang out a bit at my place?" he asked, a bit nervously, while he fumbled with his hands in his lap.
"Yeah I'd love that," I said just as I pulled into my parking space.
I helped Bruno out then giving the leash to Troye, making our way up to his apartment."Welcome," Troye announced as we walked in. He let go of Bruno's leash, the dog remaining at his side till Troye made a hand motion which apparently told Bruno he was free to go.
He rushed to the kitchen, apparently hungry. "What you want to do J?" Troye asked, putting his bag down, knowing exactly where he was going as he collapsed onto the sofa.
"I don't know, you make the suggestions," I said sitting next to him.
"I think we should start with food I'm starving," he said jumping up again and making his way round the furniture with his hands running over the several surfaces till he got to the kitchen and opened the fridge. "You can come here and see what you want," he offered after taking out a box of fruit juice and reaching up in a cabinet for a glass.
"Yeah sure," I said while making my way over.
"You want a glass?" Troye asked while gesturing to the apple juice to which I replied with a yes, he repeated the process and reaching out to me with the glass of juice in my direction which I took carefully.
Troye then started giggling to himself, making me quirk an eyebrow while I took my first sip out the glass.
"What you laughing about?" I asked with a smile at his adorable laugh.
"Oh nothing," he said with the shake of his head.
"Awe come on tell me," I quipped, leaning on the granite of the counter.
"Okay, okay. It's just that...I uh can feel your eyes on me a lot, I mean I may be wrong but I can almost feel you observing me," my eyes widened, well damn he is sharp.
"I uh," I chuckled. "I do that, yeah. Sorry that is so creepy but it's just... I uh I don't know," I said bashfully while he just shrugged.
"It's not creepy," he insisted with a smile. "It's sweet that you find me interesting to watch."
"You are."
