‘no relationship of any kind goes without some fighting and quarrelling’
“Hey Jacob.”
“Hey Scott,” I greet back with a smile.
“So,” he starts while taking his seat. “I actually have something to ask you.”“Shoot.”
“There is a party happening and was wondering if you want to tag along. It will be people from campus and it is taking place just outside the city in this trashed house that apparently no one lives in. So a bunch of people from campus are going to decorate it and are throwing a party on Friday. You in?”
“I don’t know,” I say. “I’m not really one for parties.”
“Oh come on dude, it will be great,” he assures me. “You haven’t even gone to a college party have you?”
“Well no.”
“Then come on man! Experience it,” he exclaims, clapping me on the back.
“Okay… when is it again?”
“It’s on Friday; people will probably all get there at like nine or something.”
“Okay fine,” I say with a smile at his now delighted expression.
“Yes! Knew you would come round Bixenman,” he says while I just chuckle, he is quite persuading with his friendliness and his want to accommodate everyone, he is sweet. “You can also bring other friends if you want, the property is huge and like in the middle of nowhere apparently so we won’t have to worry about noise complaints, I will text you the directions to get there.”
“Okay thanks, I think I will bring someone along.”
…….
“Hey T!” I shout from where I was hanging up some shirts in the store.
“Hey J,” he says back sweetly, making his way to where he heard my voice.
“I have something to ask,” I say when he is right beside me, running his fingers over a denim jacket.
“Yeah?”
“I was invited to this party that’s happening on Friday night this week and was told I can bring friends, do you want to join me?” I ask, with a hopeful smile at that since I know parties are not Troye’s scene but they aren’t mine either. I had some hope he would come round like I have. Any kind if hope diminished however when I saw Troye’s expression.
“No, I really don’t want to J,” he says without any hesitance, not even thinking about the offer.
“Why not?” I ask while trying to figure out a way to somehow convince him.
“I hate partying you know that. You as well, what is making you go?”
“Well yeah same as you, I hate it but I have never gone to a college party so I wanted to just experience it you know?”
“But I really don’t,” he says, obviously not seeing my point.
“Please T. I only know like three people who are going and I only have one of them anything even close to a friend.”
“No J, I really don’t want to. Not only do I hate crowds and all that but not being able to see is not making it any better for me.”
“I can be your eyes,” I insist. “I will stick with you the whole night, I swear.”
“And what you just said is another reason I have no desire to go. I don’t need to be a burden. I don’t want anyone to “be my eyes”. I want you to at least try have fun and if I’m there-”
