The faeries were first to arrive.
They flew in looking as beautiful as ever, in their forest clothes. All different colours, representing the four seasons. As they passed me, they would bow and as they passed Headmaster Walter they smiled at him. We greeted them kindly.
"What about the unseelie?" Chamania whispered.
I shook my head. "They've sided with the Revolution. The same goes for the underlie mermaids."
"Are the mermaids coming in?" She whispered.
I nodded. "Yes, but their students are not prepared for classes on land of yet. They'll arrive later on in the year once students have perfected legs."
She smiled. "That's awesome."
"When are the vampires coming in?" Tristan asked.
I smiled and watched the sun. "Their coming in once the sun has set. Which I am hoping soon."
Neither of them asked about the witches. They knew speaking of my cousin only upset me since the witches sided with the Revolution. It hurt, but one day we would be together again. I hoped and I dreamed for that day.
"Wolves." Tristan whispered.
I snapped my eyes up and heard the wolves running through the forest. There was a moments silence as they were most likely shape shifting to their human forms. We waited patiently and finally they slowly emerged. My eyes wander across the packs until they landed on the grey eyes I once thought I was in love with.
As if he knew I was watching him, his landed on mine. A glimpse of hope spread across his face and the emotions I once felt rose again. But this time...they felt different? Behind him a gorgeous blonde emerged and snaked her arm around his waist. He kissed her forehead and smiled happily.
"Gwendolyn, what in Pangaea happened?" My friend, council member Chamania asked.
I looked over to Headmaster Walter and he turned his head to look at me. With a small nod, I knew he understood what had happened between us.
"He found a Luna?" Tristan whispered.
I simply nodded. "The same goes for Robin. They found their Luna's in each other's packs when they met up. It was to help Conri and Robin settle their differences to better protect me."
"And instead they found their Luna's." He whispered.
I nodded again. "All is well. They have their Luna's and I have my William."
The simple thought and speaking his name made me smile and blush.
"What about the connection? Both boys thought they were your Mates. How can you explain that?" Chamania asked.
I sighed. "That we have yet to figure out. But we have not spoken of me being their mates to anyone. That must stay between the three of us."
They both nodded to me.
"What do you suppose it was, or is?" Chamania asked.
Slowly the wolves made their way to the entrance of the school where we stood. There were allot more than the year before now that more packs had enrolled their pups. It made the Headmaster ecstatic to know that they were trusting us. The wolves also looked allot more relaxed that the numbers were a little more equal, as well.
"None of us are too sure about it." I took a deep breath and let it. "Now that you know of it, we can discuss it tonight in the Queen's Council Chambers." I grinned at them.
They both nodded at me and turned back around to face the incoming flow of wolves. I had thought it'd be awkward be Conri, Robin and I. But it was not.
"Welcome back as a student Conri." I smiled happily at him and hugged him.
"It's good to be back and this time not in the shadows as your guard." He smiled at me and those grey eyes still made my heart melt. Conri nodded to my Queen's guard. "And now you have them."
I grinned. "Yes, I do."
Conri grinned and looked over to the blonde female beside him. "Gwendolyn, this is my mate, Astrid. Astrid, her royal," He arched his brow at me and grinned. "highness Queen Gwendolyn. The True Heir."
I smiled as she bowed to me as low as she could without making it awkward. "Astrid, future Luna to the Blood Moon Pack, welcome to Equites Academy for Panagaeans. It's an honour to have a future Luna present."
"It's my honour your grace." She smiled happily.
Her smile was gorgeous, I will admit to that. Not only that but, Pangaean Stars was she stunning. Her tanned and toned body complimented her radiating smile and gorgeous golden eyes. Conri was the one who was lucky to be her mate, not the other way around. The way she smiled and stared adoringly at Conri made me feel better as I knew she was in love with him. Just as much as he was in love with her.
It did break my heart that I was not the one who was his mate but, these things happened for a reason. There was a reason he found his mate now and not before he met me. There is a reason he had a mate that is not me. Everything had a reason. But understanding it and knowing it was difficult. There would be a reason, I just had to know it. One day, I would. But today was not the day. Today was the day my heart broke and rejoiced at the same time.
I plastered the smile on as they walked away, arm around each other's waists. More wolves that I knew from the Blood Moon Pack came through and I welcome them with open arms but my mind was absolutely distracted. It was horrific and I felt like such a horrible person. A horrible Queen.
My heart, soul and mind was no longer with me and on my task. But rather on Conri and Astrid and why all this happened? All I wanted to know now was why.
Though I was a Queen, I still a girl who had her heart broken by a boy, she thought in love with her and she was in love with.
