Into the wild

The wind blew through the rain soaked forest,every so often the wind would shake drops of rain from the treetops .The seasons had switched to summer a while ago, the perfect time for a centaur gathering fruit.  So of course Felix was out gathering fruit, something he had somehow failed to do correctly last year, he had only gotten one single type of fruit. Now don't get him wrong,he loved apples he just could only eat them for so long. Towards the end of his apple filled winter even the grass under his hooves looked more appealing. Felix looked around him, scanning the trees for fruit.

Felix was trotting past a pair of oaks, towering above him,  when he saw exactly what he was looking for, the tree in front of them was covered in bright purple plums, the fruits shining through the rain. Smiling, the centaur plucked the fruit from the tree and bit into it.
The centaur huffed contently as he picked more of the fruit and put them in the faded blue bag that hung at his side. It was given to the centaur by a human a long time ago, when he was a young cult, the little boy was lost in the woods when Felix found him, but Felix had helped him out.

Felix nearly tripped on a rock as he walked between two parted pine trees, huffing angrily, the centaur shook his back leg. The centaur looked up to see he had happened upon a small pond, the water surrounded by rocks and bushes, a small cave opening up towards the back. Shrugging, the centaur took his cup out of his bag, the human things the boy had given him were always useful.

Felix heard a soft hissing as he walked closer to the water, looking down at the rippling water he saw a pair of blue eyes staring back at him, a face with jagged teeth and green scales. Felix tripped over his own legs as he scrambled to gallop away from the pond. "Thought I was alone in the forest" he said to himself as he slowed to a trot. "Can't believe there's a mermaid next door"
