I ran home as quickly as I could.
I should of known that Austin was everywhere. It didn't matter where you were, if at home, or somewhere else, he would find a way to get you. It was scary enough that he bullied me at school. It totally makes me feel safe that he knows where I live.
(Note the sarcasm)
I slowed down a little to catch my breath. Even if I was sweating, tired, and mad, I just had to get home and think. I made a friend, I get bullied at school, I get millions of views on my video over 24 hours, and now, I get bullied at home. My life is not so normal. And I'm not talking about dragons and knights all over the place.
I'm just saying that my life is weird enough. I don't need other weird news. But that's what exactly what I got when I walked though my front door.
"ANNA, ANNA GUESS WHAT!?" Sam screamed.
I tried my best to smile, despite what happened a few seconds ago. "What Sam?"
"DADDY'S STAYING AT HOME FOR A FEW WEEKS YAY!" And then Sam ran off. Fate hates me. I swear he hates me. How else would my life turn sideways? With a confused face, I went to ask mom what was going on.
"Oh yeah! I wanted to tell you but you went on your walk. Dad's going to stay home for a while. You know how he misses us don't you, sweetheart?" I nodded.
"Since he has been working a lot, he decided to go back home. Oh won't this be good Anna? You get to see your father again!" And with that, mom got up from her chair and went to go make dinner. I was speechless. I sat down on the chair and watched TV. Sam was in the other room, getting his toys ready for when dad comes home.
I sighed. Luckily, tomorrow was Monday, so I could escape my dad, and Sam as well. I know a few people who hate Mondays. Or they just hate me? I'll never know. Look, I'm not a barbie doll, and I don't plan to look and act like one. Sure, I don't have that perfect blonde hair, that skinny body, and that perfectly white teeth, but at least I can famous for something.
And that Allison doesn't want me for my money. (Just a rumor that Barbie only gets her friends because of her money and fame. And, to be honest, I believe that rumor. I mean c'mon, who wouldn't be friends with Barbie and all that money she has? She's a show-off if you ask me.)
After a few minutes of watching TV and thinking, I decided that maybe having my dad over might not be the worse thing ever. Sure, he might yell at me because I got to dinner late, or that I forgot to tell him how school's going, but if he just leaves my room alone, I'm good. You see, I have YouTube pulled up and I don't want him to see what I'm doing, and/or who and what I'm watching on there.
Cause who knows? He might yell at me for watching Pyrocynical.
He's funny I swear.
I went upstairs to check on YouTube for anything new. Nothing really, just some of the Youtubers I watch uploaded a new video. I'll be sure to check on that later. I also made sure to close the blinds of the windows. Better safe than sorry right?
"Anna! Dinner's ready and dad's home!" My mom yelled from the kitchen.
I took a deep breath, brushed my hair, and went downstairs to meet my oh-so-sweet father.
"Well hello Anna." I heard my dad say as I sit down at the table.
"Hi dad. How was work?" I asked, trying not to show any fear I might have inside.
"It was business, as usual. You know how hard it is to work at a bank Anna? Oh right, you don't, because you don't work, and you don't know how to add and subtract." It has been five seconds, and already I'm fuming. At least give it a minute dad! I only stared off into space.
Dad nodded, satisfied that I didn't talk back to him. "Sam, how was your week?"
"It was great daddy! I got to watch The Supers, and I got new toys!" Sam said, thrilled.
Of course Sam didn't yell when dad was around. That's one good thing about dad being here.
"Lucy, how was your week?" Mom looked shocked, she haven't heard him say her name in a long while.
"It was good Thomas, I just stayed home and took care of the kids."
He nodded. Although I didn't want to do it, I had to ask how his week was. I took a deep breath. "How was your week dad?"
Dad glared at me. "Did I give you permission to speak young lady?" He said angrily.
"No, but-"
"That's what I thought. You do not speak without my permission, understand?" I nodded.
"I knew I should've gave you up for adoption." He mumbled.
That's where I draw the line.
"May I be excused?" Mom nodded and I ran up to my room.
I was furious. How could my own father say that? After everything I've done for him, he discards it and calls his daughter a useless human being. I felt like I needed to punch something, but I didn't. Instead of that I opened my window and went outside.
It's not like anyone would care anyway. No one even bothered to go upstairs to see if I was alright. No one cares, and I just need to learn to accept that. I walked down the street to find some peace. Suddenly, I broke down, and I felt hot, steamy tears down my face. I was crying, and I couldn't do anything about it.
I put both of my hands on my face and cried. It was like a waterfall, the tears just kept coming. I couldn't stop it, and I didn't plan to. I ran to Blackwood Park, where I usually went when I was sad or mad. I went on the swings and cried silently. I looked up and saw a figure a few feet away from me. I looked closer to see Austin standing there.
He put something on the ground, stared at it, then walked away. I made sure he was far away until I went up to where he was. I picked it up and looked around to see if anyone saw me pick it up. I dried my eyes and went home.
I jumped back into my house. I hid the stone under my bed and went downstairs to tell my mom good night. I put on some PJs and went to bed.
I really wanted to know what the stone said, but I was scared too.
Not because of what it might say, it was because I was afraid of what secrets it held.
