When rice grows
Families can eat
Despite the poverty
Littering streets
When rice grows
We gain hope
And step further away
From inevitable rope
When rice grows
We stand tall
United and strong
Prepared for our downfall
When rice grows
We learn to cope
With unwashable fate
Despite the soap
When rice grows
Everything improves
But rice doesn't give the pilgrim
His Travelers shoes
When rice grows
The children can eat
But rice doesn't build the ground
Underneath our feet
When rice grows
Hope is prevailing
But rice doesn't break the fate
That lies in waiting
Yet rice makes foundations
And that will suffice
Because our current generation
Grows with the rice.
