To the man you were
The man who became a fool
Because of her
The hands we laced together
Never seemed to match
Our fingers would slip apart
Our hearts would detach
So I tried to let you go
Before I got too attached
But you refused to admit
That we were mismatched
You gripped my hand tightly
Said you'd never let go
I got lost in your insanity
I forgot the word no
Somehow we stayed together
Until you remembered her
You regretted holding me
You regretted what we were
Then again we weren't much
Undeserving of a title
Just two separate pairs of hands
Who's separation was vital
Yet I wept when you tore
Your mismatched hand away
Because you made me need you
You forced me to stay
You realised how wrong this was
But my feelings already grew
I wish you'd told me sooner
So I could've forgotten you
I faded from your heart
When it replaced me with her
I was just a distant memory
In your mind I was a blur
I can't be friends with you
It hurts to stay by your side
I wanted to- believe me
I'm sorry, but I tried
This may not be the end of us
I can't promise, I can't vow
Just give me time and we shall see
But she needs you now.
