After a couple hours a nurse came out to get us. She told us the Breanna wouldn't live much longer. A week was the maximum length she was expected to live.
My heart was breaking as Phoenix started to sob. I cried silently as I put my arm around him.
She took us to Brea's room in the ICU. We quietly walked in.
Breanna was sound asleep and Courtney was setting right beside her bed.
When she saw us she stood up, tears were running down her face.
"They said-"
"I know baby." I cut her off not wanting to hear that my little girl wouldn't live much longer. Hearing those words just once was a time too many. No father should ever have to hear that.
"Oh Luke." She sobbed into my chest.
"Shh it's ok. Don't cry." I said softly and her sobs turned into sniffles.
"Why don't you try to get some rest." I said leading her over to a couch by the window.
"Wake me up if anything happens."
"I will, I promise."
I took my jacket and folded it up so she could use it as a pillow.
Soon she drifted off to sleep.
"Should I go call Jude?" Phoenix asked.
"If you want or I can."
"I'll do it."
"Ok just go out to the waiting room you don't want to disturb anyone."
He nodded and left.
"Daddy?" I heard Breanna say weakly.
"Yeah baby." I said setting by Brea's bed.
"I'm scared. I don't want to die."
"It's ok to be afraid but there is honestly nothing to be afraid of. God will take care of you wether you stay on Earth or go to be with him." I said walking over and taking her hand. I could see the tears that she was forcing back.
"I don't want to leave you and momma, neither Jude and Phoenix."
"I know baby we don't want you to leave either."
She yawned and pulled the blankets up.
"Try to get some more sleep baby girl ok?"
"Ok."
"I love you princess." I whispered kissing the top of her head.
"I love you too." She replied as she slowly fell asleep.
Phoenix came back in and fell asleep in one of the chairs. I just stayed awake and prayed over my daughter as she slept.
I don't want to let her go but I don't want her to be in pain.
I wish I could just take all of this from her so she didn't have to suffer.
I cried all night, I couldn't be strong anymore. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't keep it in.
