I Won't Ever Let You Go

Chapter 5

The next morning came too soon. I had been up all night with Brea, she got sick several times.
Most of it was the sickness but she was also really scared.
She had just went to sleep about two hours ago and I hated to wake her up, but I had to.
"Baby get up and get ready, we have to leave in an hour." I said gently shaking her awake.
"Ok." She said sighing as she stood up. She was so sick and exhausted so she moved around slowly. I sure hope the chemo will help her feel better, it hurts me to see the girl that used to be happy and energetic all the time now be sick and lethargic.
We got ready and then left. Once we got there I checked her in and filled out all of the paperwork. After that we had to wait for about an hour until they took her back to the room and hooked up her IVs.
Once all of that was done they let me go back to her.
"Why don't you try to get some rest princess, maybe after you take a nap you'll feel better." I said.
She moved over and patted next to her asking me to set with her. I covered her up with the blanket and laid down next to her. She snuggled into my side and I put my arm around her.
"Daddy?"
"Yes baby, what is it."
"What if I lose my hair?" She asks.
I let out a sigh and give her a sad smile. "Then you'll be just as beautiful as always princess. Nothing will ever make you less beautiful to me, your family, or God." I say.
"Thanks daddy." She says kissing me on she cheek.
"You're welcome. Now try to get some rest for me ok?"
"Ok." She says as she closes her eyes and drifts off to sleep.

She slept until somewhere around 3 which was when her chemo was done. I got up and moved out of the way so the nurses could unhook her IVs.
After that I had to sign a few more papers then we got to leave.
"Princess, do you want me to stop and get you something to eat?" I asked as we pulled into the highway.
I waited for a reply but she didn't answer. She was already sound asleep again.
When I got to a red light I took my jacket off and covered her with it so she wouldn't get cold and then I continued the drive home.
When we got home Breanna was actually feeling pretty good so she played video games with the boys.
Courtney and I just sat together and talked quietly as we watched the kids laugh and have fun.
Not too long after I sat down the phone rang, it was Joel.
I stepped out of the living room and answered it.
"Hello?"
"Hey, how did it go today?"
"Pretty well so far. We have our moments when it's hard, but we're still going."
"Moriah and I were wondering if we could bring dinner over."
"Oh Joel, you don't have to do that."
"But we want to."
"Ok that's fine. Thanks man."
"No problem, is 6-ish ok?"
"Yeah, I'll tell Court."
"Love you."
"Love you too. Bye." I said hanging up then going back to the living room.
"Joel and Moriah are bringing dinner over around 6." I said setting down next to Courtney.
"That's sweet of them." She said leaning back against me.
"Mhm." I replied bending down to kiss her forehead.

Joel and Moriah arrived with dinner at 6. I was able to talk them into staying to eat with us.
We all fixed our plates and sat down. I said the prayer and then we ate.
While we ate nobody really talked that much but afterwards we went to the living room and talked about everything from football to the band's new album we're working on.
We talked so much that we completely forgot how late it was getting so they didn't leave until somewhere around 9:30.
"Breanna let's get you ready for bed." I said gently shaking her awake. She had fallen asleep on me after we moved to the couch.
She went upstairs and got ready for bed then I went up to talk to her about tomorrow.
"Baby I have to go to work tomorrow but grandma is going to come stay with you, is that ok?"
"Yeah."
"Ok. I sure love you princess." I said covering her up.
"I love you too daddy." She replied and then I left and went to my room and went to bed.
