The past 3 days have moved by so slow. I've only gotten about an hour of sleep since we got here.
Breanna sleeps most of the time and Courtney, the boys, and I just stay here with her, all of us fear that if we leave something will happen.
Courtney and the boys just went downstairs to eat dinner, they offered to bring me something but I wasn't hungry at all. My stomach is constantly in nots from stress and anxiety.
Brea's been awake for a few minutes now. I opened the blinds so she could see the sunset. She loves watching them, always has.
"Can you see the sunset baby?"
"A little."
"Here I'll carry you over there so you can see it."
I picked her up bridal style and carried her over. She smiled as she saw the beautiful colors painting the sky.
"It's beautiful." She whispered gazing out at the blazing colors. "Thank you daddy."
"You're so welcome princess."
I carried her back to bed and tucked her in.
"Daddy can you snuggle with me?"
"Yeah princess. Just scoot over a little."
I lay down next to her and she snuggles into my side.
"I love you daddy."
"I love you too princess, so very much." I said stroking the back of her head. She reached up and kissed my cheek then she laid back down.
"Tell everyone else I love them." She said handing me a folded up envelope.
Her eyes made their way closed as her breathing slowed and the heart monitor gradually flatlined.
I looked down at her, a smile on her face reminded me that she wasn't sick anymore, she wasn't hurting. But that didn't take the pain away from my heart. I sobbed as the nurses came in they didn't try to revive her, there was nothing they could do.
Seconds later Courtney came in along with the boys.
Courtney ran into my arms and cried. The boys started crying to as they came over hugging me and Courtney.
The nurses left to give us a few minutes.
We were all a mess. None of us have slept decently since we got here and we were so emotional.
After we all were calmed down a little we had to fill out some paperwork and then we could leave.
As I drove us home Courtney called her parents and siblings to let them know and Phoenix called some of his friends and her friends.
When we got home Jude and Phoenix went straight to bed. Courtney and I had to call the rest of the family.
Once she was done with her calls she told me she was going to bed. I kissed her goodnight and called the last person I had to then I went to Breanna's room and laid down on her bed, tears streaming down my face.
Later I woke up and Courtney was standing there.
"It's ok baby, I was just going to cover you up."
I was too tired to say anything more so I just closed my eyes again.
Soon I felt the warmth of the blankets, followed by Courtney kissing my cheek and setting on the edge of the bed, right beside me. I could hear her softly humming a Steven Curtis Chapman song.
It reminded me that I wasn't saying goodbye to my daughter, just "I'll see you later."
She then started stroking my hair until I fell asleep.
A/N
Once again, I'm sorry for the sadness. I added the song in because I felt like it fit. I lost one of my closest family members on Christmas last year and this song makes me think of her, reminding me that while life may end here on this Earth it continues in Heaven, a place where there is no pain, and sadness, but joy and endless love.
