*Paige's POV*
"Paige wake up," Alex said as he flipped on the light in my room and pulled open the curtains, "Ah sweet sunlight," he turned at me, "Isn't it just great?"
"Get the hell out," I groaned, rolled over, and pulled a pillow over my head to block out the sudden light. He launched himself onto my bed and landed right on top of me, his knee lodged itself into my hip, I groaned in pain, "Ouch, damnit Alex! Why did you do that?"
"Because you sleep like a freakin' rock, also it's way late, like almost one."
I sat up quickly, throwing my startled, not-so-little brother off the side of the bed, "In the afternoon?"
He poked his head up over the side of the bed, winced and rubbed the side of his head, "Yeah in the afternoon, you damn spaz."
I quickly jumped out of bed and winced, suddenly feeling a weak hangover coming on, "Why aren't you in school?"
He looked at me, clearly amused, "One, it's Saturday. And two, it is the middle of June you lunatic."
I nodded and grabbed my phone, "Right, it's summer."
He shook his head, muttering a string of curses as he walked out of my room. I sat down on the edge of my bed and checked my phone to find two missed calls and four text notifications. The two calls and three of the texts were from Madison, grilling me about what happened when Nathan walked me up to my apartment last night.
The fourth text was from Nathan, 'hey, I've been thinking about you since I left your apartment last night, what are you up to?'
I walked out of my room, smiling, and sent back, 'I'm leaving for Jack and Madison's cookout in like an hour. Are you going?' Then set my phone down on the counter and reached into the fridge.
I heard the familiar ding! signaling a new text, but before I could grab it I heard, "Oh who is this Nathan texting you?"
I spun around quickly, "Give me my phone. Right now." I scowled and used the best mom voice I could manage.
He smirked and put his arm above his head, "Can you reach it?"
I frowned, "Come on, I'm not in the mood. Just give it back."
"Okay grumpy," he rolled his eyes and handed it over, "Seriously though, who's Nathan?"
I shrugged, "Even though it's none of your business, Nathan is Jack's brother."
"Jack has a brother?" He frowned, confused then poured himself a new cup of coffee, apparently bored with the one that he already had sitting on the counter.
I nodded, "Yeah he does, are you going to the cookout? We're leaving in an hour."
"May as well, I've got nothing else to do."
"Glad you love spending time with your big sister," I rolled my eyes, "I'm gonna take a shower, please be ready in an hour, I don't want to be late."
He laughed, "I'll be ready, calm down."
I shook my head and walked into the bathroom, checking the new text from Nathan on the way, 'Yeah I'll be there.'
I smiled and texted back quickly, 'Well I guess I'll see you there Nathan.'
A few seconds later I received another text, 'I guess you will Paige.'
