Blake shifts and I climb to his back, but not before some younger women launch themselves at him. He trembles slightly and I growl at the women, agitated. The women ignore me and shift into their wolves, rubbing their scents into him. He growls at them, but it encourages them. I jump off his back and onto one of the women, shifting, mid-air.
The wolf stumbles, but swipes at my snout. I dodge her claws, barely, and knock her to the ground. I stand over her, snarling and put one of my front paws over her neck. I cut off her air supply as her hind legs scratch at my underbelly. I yelp and growl at her. I move my snout to her neck and rip out her jugular, finishing her quickly.
I turn to the other wolf. Her wolf is bigger than mine. I growl at her and she snarls at me. I lunge at her and she sidesteps me. I end up getting a mouthful of dirt. I stand up, shake the dirt off of me, and turn around. The wolf waits for me to attack. I go for her throat, but she dodges again. I turn quickly, but the wolf clamps her jaws around my neck. A scared whimpers escape my mouth. Her teeth sink deeper and she brings me to the ground. Her weight is suddenly knocked off of me, leaving deep scratches on my neck. I yelp. I shift, my wolf tired out. As I look for my mate. As I find him, I watch him rip out her throat.
He crawls towards me, whimpering, and nudges me with his cold snout. I roll onto his back, nestling into his soft fur. I wrap my arms around his neck. I can only tell we are moving by the movement of his spine. I concentrate on his breathing and eventually fall asleep.
I wake up with a pain in my neck and a cold room. I turn over to where Blake usually sleeps. I feel his spot, but it's like he wasn't here. I whimper at the searing hot pain that courses through me again..
I crawl out of bed, going to look for my mate. I take a quick peek outside and notice that it is pitch black outside. If Blake were out there in his wolf form, I'd never find him.
"Blake?" I whisper.
No reply. I swear, I am going to kill this man for not taking care of me.
"Queen? Are you ok?" I turn and see a man in his mid- to early twenties. He sniffs the air. "Oh, sorry, Queen. I must go. King, would not be happy with me around you right now." He scurries off quickly.
"Blake! I am going to kill you if you don't come here. Now!" I yell, not caring about all the sleeping people. A shiver of fear crawls up my spine, and I know Blake is scared of something.
Yeah. You, Sonya. Lexi chimes in.
Well, I'm not happy with him right now. He should be taking care of us, not hiding.
I continue searching for Blake, getting angrier as he doesn't come out. His scent grows stronger, closer. "Blake, get out here now. Or, you can sleep on the couch for the rest of my life." I growl out. I hear a whimper coming from behind a door. I open the door, and scan the room.
Blake lies on the bed, shaking and whimpering. "Get out! Now!" He growls.
"No!" I step towards him, anger taking control.
"Sonya, leave!" He turns to me, shaking, no longer whimpering. I close the door, so nobody sees what may happen, a fight.
"I ain't leavin'!" I step forward again. Instantly, Blake is in front of me.
"Get out! I am your Alpha and you will obey me! You will not disrespect me!" He stalks towards me as I step back, scared.
"No." I state, firmly.
"What don't you get, Sonya?! I don't want you here! Leave! Now!" His teeth elongate and fur starts to sprout.
"Y-you don't want me here?" I gasp in shock as a sharp pain shoots through my body. Compared to this pain, going through my heat is nothing.
"Don't make me repeat myself!"
I turn around as tears pool my vision. I open the door, bumping into Blake's mother, Bella.
"Ah. No, get back in there." I do as she says and back up into the room, bumping into Blake. He pushes me off of him, making me fall on my butt, an 'oomph' escaping my lips. Bella growls at Blake. "I know that I did not raise my son to treat a woman like that! Help her up, now!" Blake grunted and offered his hand. I ignored him and pushed myself up.
"Bella, can I go, please?" I looked at the ground, submitting to her, so that she didn't attack me.
"No. What is going on here?" She tips my head up, directly asking me, pretending her son isn't here.
"Umm..," I can't think of anything to say.
"Nothing, Mother. You can go now." Blake said, rather harshly.
"I wasn't talking to you. I will deal with you later. What was going on, Sonya?"
"Umm...I woke up and Blake wasn't there. Then, I remembered that I had started my heat. That made me madder that Blake wasn't there, So, I came searching for him. I found him in here. He told me to leave and I didn't. Then, he said that he didn't want me here, so I was going to leave. Then you showed up." I could practically feel Blake's daggers shooting at me as he glared me down.
"And, why don't you want your mate here?" Bella turned to Blake.
"I just don't. I don't want her. She wouldn't make a good Queen. She is too weak."
I growled, but one look from Bella and I shut up.
"And how is she weak?"
"She got pinned by another wolf. A rogue. A female who is a lesser rank."
"I was injured!" I growled at him. "What did you expect! I could have died! You would have liked that, right? I should have just killed you as soon as I met you!" I lunged at him, shifting. Bella moved out of the way. I landed on top of him, knocking him to the ground. I bared my teeth at him. I was getting ready to make the kill. In a flash second, he moves and my fangs sink into his neck, marking him as mine.
I shift back, terrified. A groan escapes Blake's lips, as he closes his eyes. I scamper away from him. "I've got to go." I run out of the room, cursing under my breath. I hear Blake's thoughts burst into my head as his mark heals.
She marked me.
I need her.
She ran from me.
I try not to probe in his mind. I run downstairs and out the door. A guard catches me. "Queen Sonya? What are you doing out here? You should get inside." I growled in response and shifted.
I run through the woods, appreciating the freedom, that is until I hear the heavy paw thuds behind me. I push myself faster, but the footfalls are close behind. I look behind me and a black wolf is chasing me. I hand control to Lexi and we go faster. Until we are knocked to the ground. The wolf stands over us, sniffing us. To my horror, Lexi turns belly up, submitting to the Alpha. He sniffs our most precious parts, but I don't interrupt her time. She enjoys this and she should have time to enjoy our mate; put aside our human differences.
The Alpha positions himself behind our wolf, digging his claws into our fur. I allow them to have their fun, but as soon as they are done, I regain control. I run back to the castle, quickly. I shift as I reach our room and slip into the bed, burritoing myself in the blankets.
I feel Blake enter the room. The bed dips down and I scoot as far away from him as possible.
"You marked me. I need to be near you." He explained.
"I didn't mean to mark you. I was going for the kill. You moved."
"You were going to kill me."
I nodded, knowing that he was staring at me, even though I wasn't looking at him. "Good night."
"Good night, bellissimo." I almost cried out when he used one of his nicknames (that I didn't understand) that he hasn't used in a long time.
