The winter holidays were to begin the day after Professor Slughorn's Christmas party; one that Abrienne was dreading to attend. Everyone who was deemed to be successful in the future would be there, and she wasn't fond of spending her evening conversing with people with a higher academic than her friends. Remus and Lily had been invited, however, which was the only thing keeping her from staying in her dorm.

Abrienne spent the afternoon after classes in Gryffindor tower with Lily. They had gone through her entire wardrobe to find dresses fit for Slughorn's party, and were now curling their hair and doing their makeup. Lily's roommate, Marlene, had offered to help, as she wanted an excuse to not do her homework.

Lily had chosen a simple dark green dress that cut off about an inch and a half above her knees, along with a fancy necklace that Marlene insisted she wore. Abrienne, unable to find anything to taste in either of the Gryffindor girls' closets, had gone back to her dorm in a mad rush to find her own dress. She had com panting back into Lily's dorm clutching a yellow dress in her hand. It was a soft yellow and had a pleated flower pattern all over it. She had also brought along her tall yellow heels that were just short of being the same colour as the dress. Lily had decided to wear black flats, but she still looked very elegant and lovely.

Slughorn had made it clear to bring a plus-one to the party, so Remus had nervously asked Abrienne whilst Lily had confidently asked Severus if he would accompany her. Much to James' distaste, he eagerly complied.

The two well dressed girls walked down the staircase hand in hand, giggling when Abrienne tripped down one of the steps from her large heels. The rounded the corner to see the marauders fussing over a particularly well dressed half-breed by the fireplace. Sirius licked his finger and attempted to smooth out Remus' eyebrow, but was pushed away by a disgusted Remus who uttered something about not wanting his dirty saliva anywhere near his face.

Their attention was soon turned towards the two girls, who twirled and posed for the boys to see. James gushed over how fantastic Lily looked, stopping to tell Abrienne that her heels should not be that high and 'what if someone mistakes you for Madame Rosmerta and tries to make a move!'. Sirius congratulated Abrienne on 'actually looking nice for once' and Peter blushed and added that both girls looked model material. Remus, who hadn't moved from his spot by the fireplace, stared at the Hufflepuff, completely intrigued by the girl.

Abrienne smirked and stalked over to the flustered boy, crossing her arms self-consciously over her chest and looking up slightly. The heels had made her increasingly taller and she only had to look up a short distance at Remus.

"You look dashing, Mr. Lupin," She giggled, taking in his dark suit and yellow tie. "How did you know that I was going to wear a yellow dress?" She faked a shocked impression as she tugged on his neatly folded tie.
