Halloween was always Abrienne Potter's favourite holiday. When she was young, her and James would go trick-or-treating around the neighborhood for hours. They always dressed up in fancy costumes their mother made them and they'd hop around in them the day before and after Halloween, enjoying the glee the spooky holiday brought them. Since they started at Hogwarts they were unable to trick or treat or dress up anymore, but they still enjoyed the feast and decorations, and every year they visited the kitchen late at night, where the house elves gave them tons and tons of sweets to replace the candy they used to get.
This year, however, was different. The twins would not be enjoying the feast or the decorations, and they certainly would not be visiting the kitchen late at night for sweets. This was the first year that the full moon came on Halloween, and Abrienne was disappointed to say the least. She wasn't angry at Remus for potentially ruining her favourite holiday, she was angry at the moon. She refused to let Remus see how disappointed she was, however, because she knew he would blame it on himself.
That morning Abrienne sat at the Hufflepuff table with Remus, Antoinette, and Felicity, discussing the quality of the coffee.
"I'm telling you, it tastes different. More pumpkin than usual." Abrienne explained, taking a sip of the hot liquid. Yep, definitely more pumpkin.
"Luna, there's never pumpkin in the coffee." Remus rolled his eyes, taking a sip of his own pumpkin coffee "I'm sure the elves just added pumpkin in because it's Halloween and they want it to be festive." He smiled at the girl as her eyes lit up at the mention of Halloween. He knew it was her favourite holiday, and he couldn't help but feel bad that he was going to ruin it.
"Well that's nice of them," Abrienne smiled at sipped at her coffee again, "it still tastes good, which is great because coffee is my favourite. I wonder if they'll put peppermint in the coffee come Christmas." she said.
"We won't be here at Christmas, but maybe they'll have it the morning before we leave." Remus suggested, smiling amusedly at the brunette. Antoinette visibly sighed across the table and the three moved their gazes to the blonde, raising their eyebrows. She sighed once again, but louder, and Felicity rolled her eyes.
"What's wrong, Annie? Trouble in love-ville?" She asked. Antoinette nodded her head sadly as she stared at the Gryffindor table.
"He said he didn't know if he loved me yet." She sighed, staring sadly at John, whom had his back to her and was unaware of her sad glares.
"He's a foul git, Annie, why fancy him when there's plenty of other handsome wizards to fancy?" Felicity suggested, "What about Conner Goals? He's handsome and smart!" she motioned to a handsome, yet nerdy-looking boy five seats down from them at the Hufflepuff table. He was nice, and quite good-looking, but he wasn't for Antoinette. She enjoyed the 'bad boys' like Sirius Black, and, quite obviously, John Eliza. It was rumoured that John had a large snake tattoo covering his back, but Antoinette explained it was a small lion tattoo on his right shoulder, and that he would never get a snake tattoo because he wants nothing to do with Slytherin whatsoever. Antoinette still fancied him, and was determined not to let him go.
"How long have you two been together?" Remus asked, confused as to why he hasn't heard about the two of them earlier. He imagined they had been together for quite awhile if she's upset about him not loving her.
"Three weeks," Antoinette replied dreamily, "but what a wonderful three weeks its been. I think I love him, and I told him that, but he says he doesn't know if he loves me back yet!" the blonde sniffled, wiping under her bright blue eyes that were swimming with tears. Remus had to hold back a laugh for fear of looking hard-hearted. He leaned over to Abrienne and whispered,
