It was halfway through November and the days were getting colder. The leaves were long gone from the trees in the forbidden forest, and the grass began to frost every morning. Abrienne still sat outside each morning with a cup of coffee and stared out at the Black Lake. She had been doing this since Halloween; she found comfort in the dark lake full of secret creatures and the giant squid. She sipped her coffee and pulled her robes tighter around her, watching the sun rise, the sky full a plethora of reds and oranges dancing through the clouds. She was so caught up in the colours of the sky that she hadn't noticed someone walk up to her until they placed a heavy jacket onto her shivering shoulders.
Remus Lupin sat down next to Abrienne Potter and sipped his coffee that was keeping his hands warm. He smiled over at Abrienne, who had a red nose and a pink tinge in her cheeks from the cold. She smiled back and thanked him for the jacket.
"You shouldn't be out here when it's this cold out," Remus said casually, "but I know if I told you to come inside you'd tell me to sod off, so I figured bringing you something to keep you warm would be a better idea." she laughed at his statement, which happened to be extremely true. "I know how much you like this spot. It's pretty." He continued softly.
"If only the others saw its beauty," Abrienne sighed, " they'd know why I come out here every single morning." The two watched the sun rise and sipped their coffee until both cups were empty, then they cuddled up together and talked about what they thought was in the mysterious lake. After the sun reached considerably over the lake, the two knew it was time to go back inside for breakfast. Remus helped a shivering Abrienne up and, after discovering she looked too cold to walk properly, he scooped her up in his arms. He carried her, laughing, up to the castle.
"Remus, I didn't know you were so strong!" Abrienne giggled, wrapping her arms around his neck. He grinned and chuckled as she wiggled in his arms.
"You know why I'm so strong." He said, referring to him being a werewolf.
"Of course I know, but I didn't think you'd be this strong! Look at those muscles!" She continued giggling and squeezing his biceps through his jacket. It was true, he did have large biceps. Abrienne almost swooned over them, but she kept her mouth shut to avoid embarrassment. Remus put the brunette down when they reached inside the castle, and she stretched up onto her tip-toes before thanking him for carrying her and leading him into the Great Hall where everyone was currently eating breakfast and socializing.
Abrienne sat down at the Hufflepuff table where Antoinette and Felicity were sitting, along with Olivia, who seemed to be talking their ear off. She parted ways with Remus, who went to sit with the marauders, and turned around to see all three girls staring at her expectantly.
"Can I help you?" She asked as she loaded her plate with bacon and pancakes.
"What's going on between you and Lupin?" Felicity asked, looking over to the scarred boy at the Gryffindor table who was currently getting interrogated by his friends.
"Uhh, nothing?" Abrienne replied, raising her eyebrows at the accusation. "We were just sitting at the lake together, like friends do." She bit into a few pieces of bacon at a time and awaited the girls' response.
"You two have been 'sitting at the lake' together for quite awhile now. Are you sure all you do it sit?" Antoinette interjected. Abrienne rolled her eyes at her blonde friend. It was true, they had been sitting together every day. The first time, Remus had told her to come inside and she told him to sod off. Since that day he's been bringing her coffee and sitting with her. Today had been the coldest morning so far, and Abrienne was grateful he had brought her a jacket.
