We got the uniforms from the store and headed over to the sandlot, well squints did I had to get to work. I walked into Ruby's Diner and punched in my card and grabbed my apron and waited for the first customer. Luckily the day went by fast by 3:00 I was off, before Squint's and I went separate ways he told me that their first game was at 3:30 at Spark's field.I walked around the corner, through an alley between houses and there was the field no one was there yet but a lot of cars were pulling up, and this included Chops' car. I walked across the street seeing Benny, Squints and Chops getting out of the car, once I finally went around to the bleachers I saw the team wearing my uniforms, I smiled to my self, "Hey Y/n!" Squints yelled when he saw me and threw a uniform at me, I caught it. "For the creator." Squints said, "I didn't know Benny was coaching or something with the sandlot?" I said, "Well he just comes by when he can, but everyone seems to like a major leaguer helping them once in a while." Squints said putting his arm around my shoulders leading me to where Chops was sitting, he then went back to talk about the sandlot team. "They're really neat," Chops says, "Good thing he gave me my favorite number," I said giggling a little.
"Strike!" The umpire yelled as the Sousa's team was off the base. Next was Santorelli and I was crammed right between Chops and Squints, "Hey, that Santorelli kid ain't bad." Chops said over me, "Ain't bad? The kid's the best thing that happened to the sandlot since the day Benny concord the Beast" Squints said as he left to go talk to the team, "Nah the beast was more fun than winning this thing, in other words, Benny conquering the beast was better. I don't know what Squints was saying." I told Chops as he laughs.
We were winning both games when the first day of the tournament ended. I followed Chops who followed squints to where the team was meeting up and talking. I heard Squints and Benny talking about something, "That's two in a row." Benny says to Squints, "Two to go, if we keep this up we'll be playing Needman's team in the championships." Squints said in response "With Tommy, I think we will actually have a chance. Alright, fellas great game, get in the dugout, batting order, let's go!" Benny says following the boys into the dugout. "Hey Chops, any inside word on the city console vote?" Squints asked. "Oh yeah, split, straight down the center every time." He said looking back at me as I facepalm myself. "What is it going to take to get this thing behind us." Squints said, "Quite a lot Squints." I said as we both walk away.
