We all waved Tommy off and went to go get ready for the fireworks, Squints, Chops, and I rode home together to get ready. Chops dropped Squints off at his house and told him to be ready at about 9:00 which gave us about two in a half hours to get ready. As Chops was driving back to the house that we shared he asked me something that I thought I was finally willing to do.

"Hey, Y/n are you gonna stay around here anymore, or ya going back to Texas?" Chops asked.

I turned to him and said, "Well I don't want to keep crashing at your place if you don't want me to." I started, "But I want to." I finished looking back out the window.

"Well," Chops smiled, "You probably won't live with me for long, not until you move in with someone." He said laughing a little.

"What?" I said snapping my head back in his direction.

"I think you know who I'm talking about Y/n." He said laughing.

"You better not be talking about Squints," I said blushing at the thought of us moving in with each other.

Chops didn't respond but just laughed, and I took on my personal ability to slap him in the arm as we pulled into the driveway.

"Ow," He said handing me the keys to the house, "Unlock It and go get ready." He said as I took the keys and got out of his small car and running up to the door and unlocking it. I walked into the house and threw the keys on the counter in the kitchen and ran up the stairs to get ready.

I was wondering what to wear the last time I remember doing this going on a small date with Squints on the fourth of July in 1961, man those were the good old days. as kids, I didn't have a care in the world and everything felt new, now I had to make new memories and hope that they had the same effect as they did 14 years ago.

Once I got out of my day dreaming session I finally decide to get dressed. It was about 7:00 when I finally picked out something to wear. I put on my Dodgers jersey from the baseball game I went to when I first came back to San Fernando Vally. I also picked out some black skinny jeans that were ripped at the knees and my maroon high top converse. I walk to the bathroom across the hall and put on some light makeup which included some powder, and mascara, but not that much because it was going to be dark and no one would see me.

It finally was around 7:30 and I was thinking about the conversation Chops and I had in the car on the drive over here, do I really want to stay near the Sandlot, sure I still loved Squints but I don't know whether to stick around again, but where would I go? As I spent the last few hours wondering what I would do it was finally 8:30 and Chops called me down to get back into the car so we could go get Squints again.

I ran down the stairs after brushing out my tangled hair to see Chops not wearing his usual cop outfit but he was wearing a white shirt and his khaki pants and black high top converse. I didn't say anything but we just headed out the door.

We pulled up to Squints' as he was closing the door from behind him, he was dressed in a black sweat shirt and blue jeans that conected with his white converse. He hurriedly jumped into the back seat adjusting his hat that hit the car door on his way in. The ride was quiet but once we got to where the fireworks were suppossed to be taking place, we meet up with Benny and the rest of the team but I noticed Tommy and Ryan weren't there, but I shrugged it off. I was sitting in the back of the giant blanket, Benny had brought it for us all to sit on, in between Squints and 'The Jet', Squints had his arm behind me which I felt slight brush my back once in a while. It was about in the middle of the fire works when Squints leaned over and whispered something to me.

"Are you going to stay around a while?"

I knew Chops heard the conversation because he looked at me out of the corner of his eye, and no matter what I was going to say what I wanted to do, so I took Squints' hat off of his head showing his poofy brown hair he always had and held it for a moment, then putting his hat backwards on my head just like Squints does I said,

"You know Squints, I was planning on It, I don't think I could leave this again." Once I was done Squints smiled and pulled me close, put his hand on my cheek and did the slyest thing I have ever seen him do, he took his hat back, and I thought he was going to kiss me, but guess not.

"Really?" I said lightly hitting him in the arm as he put his hat back on, and with that, I took the chance to kiss him on the lips myself leaving him the one to be shocked. After that, I leaned on his shoulder like nothing ever happened while Squints just smiled.

The Sandlot should never be without a girl.
